ALBUQUERQUE (KASA) – The Sunshine Flowers LLC on Rio Grande Boulevard in Albuquerque has been in business at the same location for over 30 years. When Cameron Grant took over the business in the last year, he says it’s more than a job and operating a small business, it’s a passion for brightening people’s lives.
“The challenging part is this is a perishable good,” says Grant. “So trying to ensure the freshest of the product is very difficult, but the rewarding part is being involved in people’s lives in ceremonies as birthdays, funerals, weddings, things like that, that’s the rewarding part of being in a flower shop.”
Using both business savvy and one on one dealing with customers, Cameron says there’s one other key ingredient in making the shop a success.
“It’s a lot of creativity, I have a few florists, one with a few years experience and a couple with over 30 years experience,” adds Grant.
He also says that’s what the customer is looking for and is able to get at Sunshine Flowers, a hand in what the arrangement they are buying is going to look like.
“We also want people to know that we are doing more here than just selling flowers,” says Grant. “We are here to enrich people’s lives, and with that, I do believe we stand above a lot of our competition because we’re not just here trying to make a dollar we’re trying to improve people’s overall quality of life.”
