Nob Hill salon offers unique experience

ALBUQUERQUE (KASA) - There’s a new way of being pampered for salon goers in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill at Laru Ni Hati Salon, but they’ve actually been around for the last 25 years.

“We do have 4,000 square feet basically for a café so we’re able to process for colors, cuts, they’re able to play pool or have a glass of champagne, draft local, draft beers La Cumbre, Santa Fe,” says Alan Schechner, owner of Laru Ni Hati Salon.

That’s right, you can enjoy a fine wine, champagne or beer responsibly while you wait to be seated.

“We’re the only one in the state, the only salon in the state licensed to do that,” says Schechner.

Now, keep in mind it’s not only beers and wine, but espressos, coffee, sandwiches and even the occasional cigar.

“I like smoking,” says Schechner. “I went to the University of Miami, I have a diploma that’s hanging on the wall… so I spent a lot of time in the Cuban Community.”

What may have once been a painful or dreadful experience for some husbands and boyfriends out there to accompany their wives or girlfriends to the salon is now no longer the case.

“We’ll find the same thing with kids,” adds Schechner. “Which is generally fine, if the kids don’t get bored here that’s really a good sign.”

Keeping the kids entertained while mom and dad enjoy more than just a regular trip to the salon.
