Capitol Hill is Seattle's most lived-in neighborhood and the city's nightlife capital, with a dense, creative urban core just east of downtown. It's also Seattle's historic LGBTQ+ neighborhood, which displays a wealth of character and history.

The Pike/Pine corridor, Capitol Hill's main artery, runs right outside your door. That single stretch packs in live music venues, independent coffee roasters, vintage clothing stores, indie bookshops, and some of Seattle's most celebrated restaurants — so morning coffee, afternoon shopping, and evening dinner are just a short walk away..

When you want green space, Volunteer Park crowns the top of the hill: 48 acres of Olmsted Brothers designed gardens, the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a 1912 glass conservatory, and skyline views of downtown Seattle and Puget Sound. Cal Anderson Park, the neighborhood's central gathering spot, draws locals year-round with a reflecting pool, tiered fountain, open lawns, and tennis and basketball courts.

How do you get around Capitol Hill? On foot, most of the time. The neighborhood earns a Walk Score of 99, and the basics (coffee, groceries, restaurants, bars, parks) are all within a few blocks. Cal Anderson Park is one block away, and Pike Place Market is about a mile west on foot.

When you want transit, the Capitol Hill Link light rail station (Sound Transit's 1 Line) is a short walk away. From there, it's about three minutes to downtown Seattle, six minutes to the University District, and roughly 40 minutes to Sea-Tac International Airport — all on a single train, no transfers. King County Metro bus routes 8, 11, 43, 49, and 60 stop nearby, and the First Hill Streetcar runs along Broadway a few blocks west.

For shorter trips, Lime bikes and scooters are stationed throughout the neighborhood, and rideshares are easy to call. If you bring a car, I-5 is less than a mile west, and Sea-Tac is about 14 miles south via I-5.
