Stayed for two nights while attending a conference at the Crystal Ballroom. Opted for the Junior Deluxe room so I could have a private bathroom (seriously...), this should have been my first warning.
When I arrived, I discovered that that the private bathroom was a corner of the room and a curtain. The "bed" was a lumpy mattress on a bare wood platform. The advertized turntable and albums were connected to a 3" speaker that you could crank up to distortion levels and still barely hear.
After sleeping in the room, I woke up MORE stiff and sore than when I laid down. While attempting to take a shower, It took an average of 5 minutes for hot water to actually reach the shower, which was like standing in a warm drizzle.
The attached bar/restaurant was nice. I had a couple Old Fashions and they were of great quality. This was really the only saving benefit, I had somewhere to sit and drink my blues away. Maybe that was the "hipster" vibe they were going for and everyone is mentioning here, but it was not for me.
For all of this, I paid $300 a night. Never again.
