Never staying at a Kasa property again. Fast with communication, slow with solutions.
We were placed in a below-grade unit with windows at street level and no screens. The windows opened directly onto the sidewalk, including one right above the head of the bed. Anyone walking by could have climbed in, and with no screens, my imagination went straight to a raccoon or opossum dropping into the room while we slept.
When we asked to move, Kasa first told us no comparable unit was available. Only after repeated pushing and demanding escalation did a second-floor room appear, and it took until 7 p.m. to get into it. So the room existed. Getting it just required a full day of fighting.
The original unit showed zero thought:
- No blackout curtains in a place with 15.5 hours of summer daylight
- Bed frame squeaked with every movement
- Mattress was so soft you sank to the frame
- Closet door did not close
- Cheap polyester sheets
After significant back-and-forth and delays, they eventually moved us to another room. The second-floor room was better and was what the original room should have been from the start. However, it was still extremely noisy, as though there were no insulation from the street.
The experience raises a basic question: why are units like the original one being rented out at all?
On top of that, parking is $50 a day, and both the building and parking area are difficult to find because of the lack of signage.
