This unit was perfect for what we needed. The instructions were clear on how to check in, and the room was as described and clean. The building is stunning, and we enjoyed swimming in the pool everyday to beat the heat. The views from the rooftop are incredible. We were able to walk a short distance to get city bikes, and bike around almost the entire city. The location of the building was great. 10-20 minute drive from most places we went to. The residents and staff of the building are extremely friendly and we felt very welcomed, which really added to our experience in Austin. The unit did not have laundry detergent in it but I contacted customer service about this and within 40mins it was delivered to our unit. Would stay here again and would also recommend!!

I lived here for 2 months during my summer internship and had a blast. The amenities at The Waller are 11/10, and the lovely people working the front desk are the absolute best. It only takes 7 minutes to walk to the heart of downtown so naturally there is a whole lot to do. The college is also right behind the apartment complex too so you really have a wide variety of places to go.

First - the Waller is an amazing building with a great location and amazing amenities which you will have access to. There's a two-story gym, two pools, rooftop deck, and a Jo's coffee shop. The staff are very nice and helpful. Shortstay - Check in and booking - they are still working out the kinks it appears. You get the keys from the front desk. Initially they didn't work for the elevators. Secondly, the pictures online representing the units do not always represent what you will get. We booked a 30+ day stay and our place didn't have a dining table. The pictures online showed one but our unit did not come with one. Thankfully they moved us to another unit but that took some time. The unit - The unit we got moved to had dead crickets behind the sofa. A LOT of them....we're talking like 50-100. We swept them up ourselves but man that was disappointing. The rest of the unit was fine and had no issues. Shortstay help - it's all online, there's no phone number. They take their time to respond and I had to stay on top of them the whole time. Generally we enjoyed our stay and the building itself is great. Hopefully shortstay can improve their operations.

We had a great stay. The Waller was a great building. It felt very safe. The amenities were fantastic; we used the gym, the pool, the pool table etc…. Having access to all of this was awesome. The front desk people were super friendly. The apartment was clean, quiet and a perfect landing spot. We highly recommend Short Say By Grey Star.

When I first arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to be placed in a larger, more spacious unit than the one I booked — it had amazing views and was beautifully furnished. Unfortunately, that experience was overshadowed by a strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom. I raised the issue, and the initial response was just a bottle of Febreze. After pushing back, I was told the smell was common in the building if the pipes hadn’t been used, which felt like a weak excuse. Eventually, after some back and forth, they agreed to move me to another unit — and I’m glad they did. The new apartment was just as nice, but without the odor issue. If my stay had started there, this would’ve been an easy 5-star review. I’m giving a higher rating because the second unit was fantastic, but the experience getting there was frustrating and could’ve been handled with more care.

I enjoyed my stay. The place was very clean. I loved the gym and the pool in the building. The building was very safe. People were very friendlym I would stay again.

Clean, new, lots of amenities. Couple issues: I saw in a previous review someone mentioned the lack of a table/desk as advertised. I assumed it'd have been addressed by now but these are still unavailable. Only surfaces are a small coffee table and an end table both around the couch. Nowhere to really sit in a chair and eat off a plate or use a computer. Also the room sits above the pool which is a great view, but the pool lights are kept on at night and the window screen does VERY little to dim them. You cant really make the bedroom dark at night. Neither of these things ruined the experience but they are worth being mindful of. Everything else was top notch.

Our crew had a great stay at the property. Only regrettable moment was when our vehicle was towed because we didn’t input the license plate into the kasa app. I’d recommend anyone staying to follow the instructions to avoid a similar circumstance. Otherwise the property was amazing. Incredible amenities. Great location and clear instructions. Would highly recommend to others.

Great Location, Fantastic Customer Service Visited Austin with my spouse as a split business trip and vacation. This place is ideally located in the Red River Cultural District and a short walk to numerous music venues, restaurants, and bars. The condo was modern, clean, and had everything we needed - perfect for our 10-day stay. Our unit was overlooking one of the pools. A minor issue is there is a pet relief area next to the pools and there were several residents who did not clean up after their pets. There is an outdoor rooftop lounge area that was perfect for watching the sun set. Also on the rooftop are a conference room and an indoor lounge area with a pool table. There also is a coffee shop in the 1st floor lobby. Be sure to register your license plate BEFORE you check-in. We had a rental car and our flight was late so we didn't get in until midnight. I forgot to register before we checked in, so there wasn't a parking pass included with the keys, and we were unable to find nearby street parking. Customer service was fantastic in fixing the issue first thing in the morning - and they repeatedly followed up to make sure we had everything we needed during our 10-day stay. They also issued a refund for the first night of parking. When we ran out of supplies (dish soap, trash bags, etc.), they responded quickly to replenish those items. I definitely would stay here again.

Stylish and surprisingly quiet for being located in downtown. Bed was comfortable, and the apartment was freezing cold upon arrival which was amazing after bringing all my luggage in and how hot it was. Great views of some of the Austin skyline. Capital building is a 5 minute walk away, and a lot of other things like restaurants or places to see are walking distance. I would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

The apartment is as adorable, perfectly clean and had everything needed for a comfy week stay. The amenities were fantastic and the automated checkin and checkout was a breeze. HIGHLY recommend.

The Waller was great! Young building with a young community. Gym was tremendous and rarely busy, pool was great. Penthouse library and coworking space were amazing as a remote worker. Room was large for the money. Could have used an air fryer and better kitchen tools, but everything worked fine and they supplied plenty of detergent and other supplies. Room was very bright in the morning, you’ll probably also be on the 5th floor facing east, so don’t expect crazy views, but will be a 10 second walk to the pool/gym. Closest grocery is a 5 minute scooter ride. Best bars on east/west 6th are 8 minute scooter ride. Not a ton of restaurants close by (Franklins is closest!) I’d stay here again. Love Austin and the Waller!

The location is great! Very walkable to most of downtown. The staff are all very nice and friendly. The building has great amenities. The unit had a dirty bathroom when I checked in and was missing basic amenities like shampoo and toilet paper. Which they were able to provide the next day. Other than that everything was awesome. I would recommend.

Studio is small and it’s expensive but amenities are great 👍🏻

I stayed here for a little over a month. Overall it was a great experience. Had some minor hiccups at the start but quickly resolved when I reached out to GS, all resolved promptly as well. The unit I was in had a balcony and was great for getting some sun and catching some air. Only thing I didn’t love was the smell, it is a studio so I can understand that it would smell like grease in such a small space, I essentially had candles burning all day. Gym was great for being an apartment. Coffee shops were nice, i walked to morning bird everyday, Jo’s isn’t a bad option either. Close to everything DT and right on the I35 which is nice. Some of the front desk staff were amazing, one gentleman at concierge would say Good morning everyday and I loved that. Minimal noise issues, slept well every night and I am a very light sleeper. You do have to pay for parking. Was a great place to stay as I search for an apartment in ATX as I just moved from AZ.

It was a great location at night. Lots of cool bars. Not a ton to do close by during the day. Loved the coffee shop in the lobby. The space was really small for what I paid to stay for the month but was comfortable. It showed a table in the kitchen in photos and there was no table which was a bummer and hard for me to get work done. There were no windows to open so I couldn’t get any fresh air into the apartment. The unit needs a full length mirror. The building has a great rooftop and pool area. The building staff are all very nice.

We enjoyed our stay! The unit is clean and comfortable and the amenities that the Waller has to offer are quite substantial. The location is very convenient, which made getting into downtown Austin a breeze.

We spent a month at this place, and it was awesome! The apartments we got were almost brand new, spacious, and full of light. The building itself is very stylish and has all the amenities you might need inside (gym, coworking, cafe, pools, etc), so one moment you can find yourself spending several days there without leaving. The managers were very responsive and ready for help, and the check-in instructions were smooth and clear.

Terrible customer service and a terrible refund policy. Do not stay here if there’s a possibility that you’ll have to cancel plans. They will NOT refund the cost of your room.

This was one of my favorite stays. Great area close to everything. The building has great amenities. We watched the sunset every night on the 32nd floor. Any issues that came up were immediately responded to. Probably the most responsive host I have ever had. We had a room that didn’t match the pictures (missing a table and we needed it to work from there). They moved us to another larger apartment that had a table. Super great customer service! The apartment is pretty quiet considering it’s an apartment building in downtown. It is a little bright in the bedroom due to all the city lights outside. I would recommend the host putting darker shades in the bedroom. We didn’t care but if you need a dark room to sleep it’s something to consider. Overall such a great stay and I would recommend it!

My wife and I loved our stay at the Waller, a new modern building, steps away from 2 parks. Convenient coworking and a good coffee shop right in the building. Great view from the apartment and stunning from the lounge area on the 32nd floor

Great accommodations and location! The gym and penthouse club house and library makes this an ideal all-in-one place for remote work and living. And the coffee shop downstairs is ideal for grabbing a quick breakfast taco and starting the day. The unit was clean, well-furnished and stocked with linens and kitchen utensils. Location is situated near a quiet northeast part of downtown. Whole foods / target is a 0.5 mile walk (Uber if you don’t want to haul groceries back). I loved my stay!

The building is absolutely fabulous! The co-working spaces are amazing, and having the coffee shop on the main level was wonderful. If you're a light sleeper, definitely bring ear plugs or plan to use a white noise app on your phone for the loud music that plays down the street on what seemed to be every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there was an issue with the plumbing one day.

This BNB was super clean and in a great downtown location. the supplied cookware was nice, complete, and not super beat up like other air bnbs. The Waller was a very nice place to stay. Parking costs $5 per day, not a big deal if your only there for a few days but stayed a month so that added over 200 bucks to my stay so keep that in mind. The place was stocked for 1 day, eg a single dishwasher pod, 1 trash bag, 1 paper towel roll, and 1 toilet paper roll. There was no hand soap anywhere either. When I asked for extra supplies they brought more garbage bags, toilet paper, and hand soap enough for a week which is fine but just keep in mind they're light on the supplies even for short stays. You cannot order mail to this BNB, that is for actual waller residents only. The monthly price was really good for the location but not with the additional parking costs. I was also pretty annoyed that they do everything through Kasa even though they advertise on Airbnb. Small gripe.

This is a great apartment with 2 bedrooms, approximately 1,100 square feet, a nice layout, and a cool city view. The couch and beds are comfortable, and since it’s a new building, everything looks modern and well-maintained. The gym is excellent, equipped with a full range of TechnoGym equipment. Both pools are nice—although the larger one isn’t always in the sun, it’s still enjoyable. The neighborhood can feel a bit quiet, and it’s about a 15-minute walk to downtown. However, the included parking is a great bonus. If you’re looking to explore Austin, this is a centrally located spot with excellent amenities and a modern interior. It’s hard to go wrong, especially if you can secure it at a good rate.

I had a great time while staying in The Waller. The building has new gym, very nice pool. All building areas and the apartments are highly maintained. The concierge deks staff are very welcoming and friendly. GreyStar was very responsive with clear instructions and immediate response. Very close to The Capitol and convenient public transportation to UT Austin

This is truly an amazing building. Pretty much brand new, units are beautiful, the amenities are the best I have ever seen in any building I've lived in. The concierge staff are excellent, super nice, and really care about the tenants and doing a great job. I've lived in a lot of different buildings and have stayed in dozens of AirBnbs over the last couple of years, and the Waller beats them all hands down. I work remotely and this building has top-tier places to be productive. I feel like I never need to leave. But when I do, all of downtown Austin is a 15-30 minute walk away. I really can't think of anything bad to say. The only downside is that the windows don't open (but it really didn't bother me). The AC works great and there are a couple of venting fans (one in the bathroom and another in the kitchen) so it doesn't feel stuffy at all. Great job to everyone associated with this building and thank you!
