Disappointed
Likes: Beautiful building - secure, helpful and gracious ground floor reception staff
Gym on 2nd floor was excellent
Good location with short walk to supermarket and to Target
Dislikes: Despite the sleek, modern appearance of the flat, the finishings were below par, as was attention to detail. If this had been an older building or a BnB, I might have accepted the shortcomings, but when I'm paying in excess of $450 per day for a 1br apartment, I expect things to be hiccup-free. In fact, one of the first things that struck me as I entered the room (aside from an initial, "Wow, nice!") was that the full-length mirror was hung crooked. Of course that's no big deal, but I rate this poor value for money:
* Shades that were so stiff that I hurt my hands on the chains to pull them down
* Clothes dryer that was full of lint and long hair from a previous tenant
* Inadequate ventilation of the kitchen, which led to the overly sensitive smoke alarm going off with just a wisp of smoke
* Related to the above, windows that were stiff to open, especially as the smoke alarm went off
* Shower curtain rod that was loose and that sagged in the middle
* Bathtub very slow to drain
* Frying pan (just one) supplied was warped and wouldn't sit on the hob properly. Took 30h to get another
* Questionable attention to privacy: the streaming box had the previous tenant's name and subscriptions still on it when I checked in
* What a noisy air conditioner!
* They won't keep your bags after you check out. Apparently pre-checkin storage is OK. WTF?!
While our initial encounter with Kasa staff was friendly and welcoming, I experienced spotty and more than that, non-existent, follow-up after reporting the above issues. Kasa boasts 24h service, but when I contacted them to provide us with a functional frying pan that I'd asked for several hours prior, the response was (it was around 9pm when I got back from sightseeing), "It's kind of late now." Evidently, the reps are trained, dare I say inculcated, to apologise profusely ("I am so so sorry that you are experiencing this!
