I got evicted from my hotel room at 10:30PM on a Saturday because a noise SENSOR (not a person) decided we were too loud. We weren't.
Stayed July 31-Aug 2 with 3 friends for a last guys' trip to Miami Beach. Room itself was fine, spacious and clean. But there's no real front desk here — the ground floor is basically an empty room. Everything is run through an app and a call center, and noise is policed by a sensor bolted into your room with zero human verification.
Night one we were loud pre-gaming, got a warning, turned it down. Fine.
Night two: we were in and out all day, never loud, no alerts. Around 9:41PM one alert came in while a friend was showering with music on — turned it down immediately like always. For the next ~40 minutes we were basically silent; we stood outside our own door and couldn't even hear our own speakers.
At 10:30PM we got a message saying we were being evicted for "repeated violations" and had ONE HOUR to leave. There was no new noise from us — someone else in the hallway was playing music at that exact time, which I have on video. I knocked on my neighbor's door and she confirmed, on the phone with Kasa support, that we hadn't been loud. They kicked us out anyway.
I called support and got a rep who talked over me, repeated the same scripted line no matter what I said, falsely claimed she was "the highest point of contact available," and couldn't explain how we had "ongoing violations" when her own system showed nothing after 9:41PM. No human at this property ever actually saw or heard what was happening in our room. We were evicted by a sensor, a script, and someone else's noise.
Cost us: one hour to vacate at 10:30PM on a Saturday in Miami, scrambling to find a new place after 11PM, missing plans we already had tickets for, and the last trip my friend and I will get to take together for a long time.
Kasa did refund the room rate. But we split the room 4 ways, and while the rate got refunded, the booking fees each of us paid did NOT — those stayed exactly the same even though they cut our stay short themselves. I've also since been banned from every Kasa property nationwide and my account is completely locked, so I can't even log in to see my own receipt.
If you want a place where an actual human being can verify what's happening before throwing you out of your room at night, don't book Kasa La Flora. I have photos, video, timestamps, and confirmation numbers backing all of this. Do NOT stay here.
