7/10 Good
Improve the small things and we have a winner.
Likes: The hotel is situated in a beautiful old building close to Wall Street which includes other restaurants, a rooftop bar and a coffee spot which made it quite convenient overall. The rooms are very spacious for NY and also furnished in a stylish way. The option to play records adds to the experience. We also appreciated the Malin+Goetz shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion. All in all, a good and safe way to spend some days in the city.
Dislikes: I meant to express these things during checkout but unfortunately the woman behind the desk didn‘t seem too interested and did not even ask if we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, the bed was quite uneven with one side significantly lower than the other side. This fact in connection with some annoying cracking of the bed every time my boyfriend turned, did not make the nights most relaxing. On top of that, we could hear every single word spoken in the hallway loud and clear as well as doors snapping shut. We also didn‘t have the impression the room was very clean - we had to rewash the dishes before use, bedding and towels did not smell nice and clean, the carpet had stains and smelled a bit worn down and there was quite some dust coming out of the pillows when fluffing them up. There was also no chance to open the dishwasher all the way as it would otherwise clash with the mirror on the wall. As mentioned by other visitors, the rooms are quite dark which wasn‘t a big issue but still something to take into account. The shampoo container in the bathroom was leaking and kept dripping into the bathtub which made it very slippery and quite dangerous when showering. It was also not possible to shut the bathroom door completely as it kept opening up slightly.
