10/10 Exceptional
Great Views, Spacious Rooms, and Good Value—If You’re Comfortable with a Mostly Virtual Hotel Experience
If you’re comfortable with a mostly virtual hotel experience, Mint House by Kasa is a great option in downtown Dallas. It’s centrally located, reasonably priced, and offers spacious, clean rooms with fabulous views.
The hotel occupies the 49th and 50th floors of an office building. There’s a lounge and a small “front desk,” which is essentially a staff member standing behind a desk during the day, with service ending at 7 p.m. Most of the check-in process is handled virtually through emails and texts before arrival.
Check-in is at 4 p.m., and although the pre-arrival emails indicated that I would receive my door access codes sometime after 11 a.m., they didn’t actually arrive until 3:30 p.m. I had received a confirmation email the previous day, so I wasn't particularly concerned, but it was cutting things a little close. On the positive side, the staff was very responsive to texts and emails.
I stayed in a corner room with a king-size bed and amazing, unobstructed views of Dallas and the surrounding area. Dallas may not have the most impressive skyline, but the panoramic views from nearly 50 floors up were spectacular. The room was spacious, modern, and clean. My only minor complaint was the lack of a desk, although that wasn't a big issue for a one-night stay.
Guests also have access to the private club with restaurant and bar on the 48th floor, which offers equally impressive views. We had dinner there, and while it wasn't inexpensive, both the food and service were excellent. There's also a large fitness center in the basement, accessible with a door code.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay. The virtual check-in process takes a little getting used to, and this isn't the place for someone who prefers a traditional hotel with a full-service front desk. But if you value spacious accommodations, great views, and a convenient location over traditional hotel services, Mint House is an excellent choice.
I would definitely stay here again.
