The check-in process went poorly, it seems that Kasa is not hooked up to Airbnb very well. The person at the Kasa front desk was unable to see my reservation, and the Airbnb chat-based support was unresponsive. The Kasa folks had a 1-800 number I could call, and after waiting on hold for 25 minutes, the Kasa support team was finally able to get me check-in instructions The place was nice, and the location was good. I would stay here again, but next time I would book directly with Kasa, because the Airbnb integration is messed up

Unhelpful and unaccommodating staff when booked through Expedia, better off elsewhere

Great location in the middle of downtown, safe area that is nearby to public transit for easy access to the rest of the city. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing staff! Thankful they held our bags while we had breakfast. Also gave great recs for food.

the hotel was nice and the location was convenient if you want to spend time downtown. the bed wasn’t the most comfortable and the shower and sink are like in the room which was kinda awkward. the staff there was nice, helpful and responsive. overall was a good stay, it just wasn’t perfect.

Likes: Boutique hôtel dans le quartier branché de Portland. Tout est faisable à pieds, plein de restos, cafés et bars à proximité. Personnel sur place toujours disponible et souriant. Les chambres sont confortables et modernes avec tout le nécessaire pour passer un bon séjour. L’esprit Ace Hôtel est encore présent ce qui est appréciable.

Awesome I love the autonomy of this hotel! The management was in touch and always available via text. Great coffee shop directly connected to the lobby. My room was cozy and I had a big tub! Beautiful old building, raw and rustic. Staircase was wide and not steep. Elevator was available. Quiet room. Linens were great. All the hotel bathroom amenities. Electric kettle and mini fridge came in handy. Great location. Near restaurants, bars, groceries and transit. I would totally stay here again.

This hotel was exactly where I wanted to stay in Portland! We didn’t rent a car and enjoyed access to the amazing public transportation that took us all over the city. Awesome front desk and housekeeping staff and the rooms are classic and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Cozy & clean! The Kasa was a perfect private spot to get up off the street & rest. The entryway is beautiful and very cozy & the rooms are more of the same! Very clean, convenient, and safe. There’s a cute coifed shop that’s attached through the lobby with great breakfast options & a complimentary breakfast upstairs for guests, though it’s not a huge spread. Great quality food though!

This place was very welcoming, in a perfect location and was all around so good!

This is my second time staying in a Kasa and it's been an enjoyable experience both times. Check in/out is super simple, I appreciate that the pricing isn't outrageous like most other hotels, and the location was nice for Portland. Very walkable, easy to get to public transport, and right down the street from Powell's.

Fine But Too Quirky For Me This place was absolutely fine. It had the basic accommodations of any hotel room that you'd expect. The water in the shower/sink both got hot and the bed was fine. That being said - having stayed a week as a couple on vacation - I am shocked this place has such a high customer rating. It was poorly insulated for both sound and temperature, it would stay humid in the room for the whole day after we both showered in the morning, we were directly above both a primary bus and one of the light rail trains, and the side tables for the bed were tiny and covered in the hotel's radio, white noise machine, and power strip (which then left no room for things to plug in). The chairs for the table were small (we're both about 200#) and while they were strong they were super uncomfortable. Finally, I have NO IDEA where people got free breakfast. There was absolutely no food available to us in any capacity at any point. There was water in the lobby. There was an attached coffee shop (that is in no way included or free, although it was lovely). The place was cute and "quirky", but I would never stay here again when two blocks away is a standard chain 3 star hotel that at least would be sound and temperature insulated.

Very good location, easy walking distance and short uber if you want to get across the river. Clear instructions in and out of room and building. Room was clean, had a nice view. Only downside to the room was that the sink was outside of the bathroom next to the bed. Just an unexpected layout. Was very nice to have a complimentary coffee and light breakfast place downstairs every morning. Would definitely stay there again.

Original booking was for The Ace hotel. We were advised that Kasa had taken over, however we were not advised that the standard of hotel group was more backpacker than quality traveller. We were also not advised that there would be no staff/facilities and all services were virtual. It was certainly not a deluxe superior room for which we paid £320.00@night. The experience was so bad due to noise, neighbourhood and no staff on site that we felt unsafe. Additionally there was no proper security in the room. For these reasons we had no option but to leave and find at short notice on a Friday night a safer hotel. A totally awful experience and Expedia although they advised us of the change of operator did not advise us of the lower category of hotel or the significantly lower room rate of approximately $127.

Poor won’t return. Likes: It was a little different. Quirky. Dislikes: Absolutely disgusting holding deposit of $250 on arrival. Which you would get back in 2 weeks. Or pay a nominal $14. Shocking. Open shower in the middle of the room was weird. And how to check in was just awkward.

When we found this place on Expedia, the location was great, they had free breakfast and the price was very reasonable. What we didn't realize when we selected the non-refundable rate was that we didn't have a bathroom in our room! Obviously, I was very worried and skeptical about our stay... a little panicky about the shared bathroom experience. But to my surprise, it wasn't a bad experience at all. I think I was worried most because I didn't know what to expect. There weren't many photos of the bathroom situation, so I wanted to add some in this review. The bathrooms were clean and not once did I encounter any issues with other guests or bathrooms not being available. The room we stayed in was just a basic room with a sink, small fridge, French press for making coffee, a steam iron and the most comfortable bed! There are plenty of plugs and USB plugs in the room. We also had an alarm clock and a sound machine with night light. There is free wifi and a TV. It's an old historical building so it's not going to look new, but they made it charming with special touches in the decor. The lobby was quaint and had a photo booth. The free breakfast was in a little lounge on the second floor with a self-serve, Continental breakfast. Muffins, cinnamon rolls, cereals, fruit, coffee and tea. Perfect for a small bite to eat before heading out. Truth be told I was ready to hate this place after finding out about the shared bathroom for the unit we paid for, but I was very happy with our stay. The only negative would probably be the parking situation. We had to park a couple of blocks away in the Brewery Blocks subterranean parking. Other than that, everything else was great.

I loved the room that I had. The old claw foot bathtub was amazing to soak in and relax. The room was quirky. I really enjoyed the decoration and the black and white color pallet. I love how close it is to Powells book store. The only thing I would say was a drag was the cost of parking, but that is the city and not the hotel. So if you can, use a ride share when staying there.

If "Lofi Beats to Study To" was a hotel. Great stop-over for a quick night's stay when we arrived past midnight. Check in was a breeze through the app; no keys, no stress. Cute, funky layout, great music in the lobby, adjoining coffee shop, comfy beds.

Interesting property. Oozes history, which is nice. Maid services on demand and front desk/self check is something to get used to. Nice location and my room was excellent! Right across the street is a living room style movie theater, which I enjoyed. Would definitely come back next time in Portland. Value 10/10

It was so perfect. We don’t make it out this way often, but I’ll seek out this place every time from now on! So much going on within walking distance AND the room itself is quirky and fun. Parking in the area was not bad for Portland. We loved it.

We had a 3 person room with a bunk bed. Room was clean and location was great. Lots of restaurants nearby. Instructions for access and checkout were clear and easy. Only downside was beds were slightly short. My friend is tall and he didn't fit on the bunk bed. He took the non-bunk and his feet hung over the end slightly onto a table but it wasn't unconformable. I fit ok on the bunk bed till I put my cpap on. The top of my head can't be up against anything or it gets loud. When I scooted down my feet hit the wall slightly. I have a foot/leg injuries that mean I shouldn't sleep/stay too long with my knees bent or with even light pressure on my foot or I will wake up in a lot of pain that lasts through the day. I had to be very careful about positioning and resist moving in the night but made do.

Good location and very economic for short stays. The hotel is in an older building with a nice coffee shop right next door. The lobby has some very comfy couches and quirky decorations. The aesthetic in the rooms is a bit industrial and minimalist but everything was clean, functional and comfortable. It's a good hotel if you dont plan to spend a lot of time in your room and just need a place to crash at night while you explore the city.

This was an interesting stay. The building has been repurposed as a hotel, so it has some quirks such as a panel blocking the glass on the door. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was ok. There are a lot of in houses people roaming the area around the hotel.

I was promised a workplace with a door via my booking (have proof with receipt). Not offered or given but required for my work. Very disappointing. The bathrooms did NOT have ventalation - and if you wanted any fan, it had to turn on the heater. Illegal and not cool. True fail. tried to contact while there for a partial refund. absolutely no response. terrible. dont do it.

poorly lit the lighting in the closet/coffee maker area and bathroom are ridiculous! Are these 25W???? unable to read coffee/tea flavors much less make any in the dark space. We accidentally left the light on in the the bathroom overnight and had no idea it was on until we tried to turn it on in the morning

Great, walkable location. I got a private room and it was better than I was expecting for the price. The lighting was very dim though it was hard to do makeup. I also didn’t see a vending machine. The AC didn’t work but it was nice out anyways. I can’t speak for the service because I didn’t need to talk to any workers the entire stay but I was greeted by friendly workers here and there. Would stay again!

Enjoyable, unique hotel Likes: I liked the kind of cool decor, and the comfy common area. A slightly funky and comfy vibe, as opposed to the usual corporate hotel feel. Dislikes: The self-check-in was unusual; they send you a building code and room code on the day of your check-in, instead of giving you a key card at the front desk. It worked fine, but was not something I was used to.

We would book again, just as long as our drinks doesn't disappear! Likes: We loved the place and great location! Dislikes: We left food and drinks (beer) in the fridge and and a couple of the beer were missing.

The lobby is great: it feels as “Portland” as you could imagine. The room had the charm of a prison cell. I don’t need 7 emails and 10 texts just to check and out of a hotel.

The ease of this hotel is exceptional - easy digital check-in, easy digital check out, no keys to forget, just text if you need towels... Great music in the lobby and decor in the rooms. We stayed in the deluxe king - SO worth it. Only down side was the water pressure in the room - and that truly was the only down side. Loved the vintage feel and look of the building and would definitely stay here again.

I would stay there again, just not in room 314. Likes: + clean + easy to find + stylish (industrial) + comfortable beds Dislikes: - parking - the room was in front of the elevator and the hotel sign / it was constantly loud and bright. I didn’t sleep well…

Have extra 250$ if you want to stay here Likes: Very clean, location is good. They have all the basic necessities in the room. The bed is comfy. The interior design is interesting. Dislikes: Heating didn’t work. Some lights didn’t work. The tv didn’t work. The shower is right in the middle of the room, so every time you take a shower, the steam is all over. Also, the shower has a glass wall right across the window, so you have to close the curtains every time. They charge a deposit of $250 and return it within 5 days. I didn’t know of it until I already booked - so be careful. The checking in system is confusing and you must fill out a separate form in order to proceed.

Nice room in downtown Portland. It was easy to find and close to great restaurants. The area is very walkable and close to the streetcar and train
