I've been staying at the ACE for many years & was extremley disapointed in my last stay since it changed to The Clyde Hotel. As the other reviews have said, since this has become the Clyde Hotel all of the charm of the ACE hotel is gone. The only thing that is still cool is the decor of the rooms with the record players & radio (which came from The ACE already).
Things they've taken away:
Mini bar snack option (in rooms OR the lobby- why take the lobby option away? guests coming in late might want an option of buying a snack or a drink), they took the guitars out of some rooms, no personalized welcome postcard (that is an easy thing for your front desk person to do- not sure what their role is now?), no notepad/pencil, no housekeeping- there was not even an option to ask for this, no WIFI- I inquired about it and was told there is no password, but I could not locate the free WIFI that the hotel said they had.
The 2nd floor breakfast was terrible (cereal, banana or yogurt were the only options), a few years back the breakfast room offfered toast, bagels, a variety of fruit, soft or hard boiled eggs, esspresso drinks, etc) Again, this is an easy thing to provide for your guests. I also miss the physical keys for the rooms & the warm cookie or caramel that was waiting in our room. I'm not sure if this is a generational thing, but I miss the human contact as well.
