10/10 Exceptional
Great location downtown. The room was spotless and felt more homelike than a typical hotel room. The check-in and check-out process was quick, clear, and seamless. Earplugs and a white noise machine were available in each nightstand. This was a nice touch, but the best part is that it was so quiet that we didn’t need them!
Like many others, parking was a question for us because information online seemed to be incomplete or difficult to find. I downloaded the ParkMobile app that was recommended by Kasa. However, all of the on street parking is listed as limited to between 1-3 hours. I only saw one of the two nearby parking structures (Old Town) on the app. The surface lot behind Kasa (Lot N) has a 10 hour limit and, like all the on street parking, there are signs that make it clear that overnight parking is now allowed. Someone in another review mentions parking overnight in that lot and not having any issues, but we decided not to test this!
We first went to the Hardy Parking Structure, about a 2-minute walk from Kasa. When we got there, we decided to talk with the attendant in the office. The person we spoke to was extremely helpful. They told us about the $20 daily rate, which we thought was reasonable. They did note that if we come and go during the day, the actual cost could be more than $20 a day. However, they also told us we could get a monthly pass for $55.
Additionally, we were told that there is another location, a five-minute walk from Kasa, the Old Town Parking Structure, where monthly passes are $35. Because we were staying more than one night and didn’t mind a five-minute walk, we opted for the monthly pass at Old Town. This ended up saving us a lot of money! Both parking structures were clean and had plenty of space during our stay.
The main critiques my wife and I had involved the room—nothing significant, but perhaps worth pointing out. The first thing we noticed in our room was a sagging curtain rod with three curtains of two different heights. Not a very thoughtfully designed or durable solution. Unfortunately, our room looked into the courtyard and directly at the rooms across it. It was easy to see into rooms across the courtyard, even during the day. We didn’t realize the building was designed like this and would have tried to request an outward-facing room had we known. Because the building is so new, some of the markings on the wall in the hall and room were more noticeable than they otherwise would have been. One thing we found to be tacky is that the standard hotel/vacation rental information posted near the door had been torn off the wall, leaving rips into the drywall, and was propped up on a little shelf near the door. Lastly, we appreciated the tea/coffee, but there were no stir sticks or anything else for this purpose.
Individually these things are all small, but each had a small impact on our visit. To some, I’m sure some of these things would be inconsequential or not even noticed. However, these things stand out to my wife and me as designers. I imagine some of these small issues will be worked out over time.
Overall, we had a great visit and would stay here again.
