No frills place. This is NOT a resort!! Do t be fooled! No amenities. The room was small with nowhere to sit. The dinner menu was small and the didn’t have any of the items I was interested in available. The small beach would be nice but they have 4 umbrellas first come first serve and nothing for others. The pool was clean and nice. For the price it’s an ok stay but really just a room.

Pool towels are not abundant in supply. We paid for a late checkout but our key cards stopped working 2 hours before. The continental breakfast is pretty bland. For 4 days we had oatmeal, toast, bagels and Cheerio’s for our choices. On the 5th day, we had the choice of tasteless, slimy eggs, bagels, toast and Cheerio’s. No fruit of any kind . You have to rent the beach chairs and umbrellas . You only get them from 9-5 . We had a balcony and the door handle to open the sliding door was next to the night stand, which made it hard to go Out onto the balcony.

Restaurant/Beach management is horrible Check in was easy and the valet staff was very friendly. The hotel manager, Michelle, was very nice. The restaurant is not good nor was the staff nice. They manage the beach area and if you aren’t renting their umbrellas and chairs, they are quite rude. Because of the restaurant staff and their control of the beach, we will not be back.

It's more of a motel than a hotel. Located far from anything, this establishment is off the beaten path for sure. Breakfast was undercooked scrambled eggs, cheerios, bagels, and toast. While I did hear a couple order eggs to order and breakfast meats. The server in the room never came to us at all, so I don't know if this option is a paid service or included. There are no vending machines or beverages available for purchase after hours here, and we haven't found an ice machine yet. If you want a beverage for your refrigerator in your room or to take yo the beach, you have a 30-45 minute walk to 7-11 in Deerfield Beach. Beach is small but nice, and if you want a beach chair, it's available for a rental fee. No self parking so valet only. Lyft from ft Lauderdale Airport was $48 and about 40 min. Rooms are tiny but nice. AC will not stay above 68, which is a bit cold at night. We changed it to 72 multiple times, but it would not work. Do not waste your money on a balcony, unless you really long for a great view of the parking lot and building next door. All in all, would I stay again,probably not just due to a lack of amenities and sheer distance for anything. Install some vending machines for snacks and sodas, and that would help.

This was by far not a bad vacation but when we booked through Expedia we booked the room that said it was the most popular room people booked. But the listing would not show us with what view our room was coming with. Do not book that option. When we checked in we did not get a city view or an ocean view or a partial view or a garden view . We got the most ugliest alley view ever. Who needs to see an ugly apartment ally? Total disappointment. When we asked to upgrade they said they said they can not , because they are fully booked and when we asked for an extra day they said $250 for the same ugly alley view. Yet we met a guy at the pool that said he got an upgrade for $25 extra a day. Sounds like someone has something against us and we didn’t complain even once. Here is the bad, no umbrellas Expensive lunch and dinner They don’t clean the beach there’s trash and plastics. For a private beach you would expect a clean beach. Dirty room we literally had pee on the side of the bed and on the bed sheets , we asked for new ones and never got any. Also they will not clean your room for free , every hotel will clean your room for free. It’s not like we stayed here only for 2 days but if you’re staying a week you’d expect at least a room clean once. Breakfast was small but ok, the milk was bad for the cereal Umbrella and chair was $15 per piece . They need to add more gazebo’s, we stayed here the whole week and yet only were able to get one at the end of our stay. Also the chair and umbrella rental for the beach is a joke , they need to get lesson from Clearwater beach. The good,Parking was great but was valet parking only.Pool was salt water that was great. The bottom line this hotel is not worth $250 a night , it’s is only worth $100 a night max. Glad we got a good discount through Expedia

I absolutely loved that I could walk right out of my hotel & there was the beach & beautiful ocean. They have their own sectioned of private beach, so it wasn't ever packed full of people. It had such an amazing view, walked up & down the shoreline, & found all kinds of beautiful seashells. They have their own pool as well. Free breakfast. There are only a few things I was disappointed with were several staff members were not so kind, we had to always get our own towels as there was no maid service, so linens were never changed, fresh towels were never replaced & old one's taken, we took out our own trash. If you don't want to pay $15 bucks for a beach chair for each time you want to use theirs, I would highly recommend bringing one with you! With that said, I still had a wonderful time, & it was so relaxing & so peaceful, just what I needed! 1st time seeing & being in the ocean & I did not want to leave.

Great place. Clean beach, friendly staff. The room was clean but didn't have an iron. Will choose an ocean view room next time.

This was the most amazing place! Such a beautiful hidden gem.. the view from our ocean front room was unlike any view I’ve ever had. The staff was so friendly and it was the perfect spot for a nice little get away. We most definitely will be back!

The rooms are good but don't have room service—no water in the fridge. Nobody cleans the room after you leave it. The breakfast is trash, 8-10 if you wait until the last minute to eat it, you will regret it.

Everything about this hotel was breathtaking! The room was beautiful, location on the beach perfect, FRIENDLY staff! They have everything & then some! Electric bikes to rent, pool, beach access with chairs to use, a restaurant that serves beautiful food. We got a ocean view suite, HUGE! The views, to DIE for! We loved everything about this hotel & will be back when planning on going to the area again!

Room had electrical problems

The resort was very nice and clean , friendly staff. The beach in front of the resort was well maintained. The resort provides chairs and umbrellas for guests to use on the beach. The complementary breakfast was also very convenient. I would recommend this hotel. Great place to stay if you want to be near the beach. Well kept property, updated and clean rooms, very convenient valet parking. 10 min away from Boca Raton

The photos are completely catfish photos. I couldn’t believe what the room actually looked like when we arrived. This is a motel with the most minimal updates they could have possibly done. The rooms are dark, damp, and smell like mold. They also are not cleaned properly, we found trash left from the last guests under the bed and stray hairs that did not belong to us. Also sand all over the floor. They do not do daily housekeeping and claim that you need to request it 24 hours in advance but from other reviews it looks like even that is not a promise. We arrived to be told that there would be no electricity the next day from 10am-12pm. It was actually 10am-3pm. No AC, no power, which also meant the restaurant on the premises was closed. There is nowhere near this hotel to get food. They did nothing to accommodate the guests during this time and did not provide any kind of partial refund even though it was ridiculous circumstances to deal with. Our phones were dead and we did not have a rental car so we were basically stranded lol. Felt like we were camping far more than staying at a “resort”. The only thing this place has going for it is the beach access.

Great location

My husband and I took a trip in late April to spend some quality time before welcoming our first baby. We have traveled to Florida quite a bit, but never to the Hillsboro/Boca Raton area. We typically stay in AirBNB’s, but with the prices being significantly higher than I remembered- we decided to branch out. We both couldn’t be happier with that decision. From the moment we arrived at the hotel it was such a pleasant experience. Things I feel that are most important to mention. 1. The location is PERFECT. Within driving distance of malls, and shopping centers, and parks, restaurants and honestly pretty much anything you might need. 2. Valet is mandatory. However, if you financially plan ahead, it’s $25 a day. They are so incredibly kind. They didn’t care how often we went out. You request your car via cellphone, and they bring your car to the main door at your desired time. Again…every single valet staff was exceptionally kind, down to opening the door to the cars for us. 3. The amenities were better than I had expected. Of course there were negative reviews that made me hesitant to book, but honestly most of them were not our personal experience. The hotel has a private beach & a pool. The beach is directly out from the hotel restaurant. Not much walking at all. Additionally they provided beach chairs, and beach towels for free. We packed our own towels but also used some of the towels from the hotel. On the days we got extra sandy. The hotel also offers umbrellas, and I’m not sure if they cost extra - but they were very nice & the hotel staff come to assist you in staking it into the ground. 4. The complementary breakfast was decent. There was a day or two they offered scrambled eggs but primarily it was just toast, bagels and oatmeal with some cereal options. Juice, coffee and water all free. They did have a breakfast menu to order off of. We planned ahead and purchased some fruit and protein items when we first arrived to accommodate for the protein.5. This is a personal recommendation, hit up a dollar tree & buy yourself a broom and dust pan for $4 and you can sweep your room daily - because sand does get everywhere when you spend time on the beach. Or you can pay for daily room service, we chose not to do that and clean up after ourselves. I Just want to put so much emphasis on the fact that the negative reviews almost swayed my decision in booking, but we are so thankful for our time & for all of the amazing staff we met. We will certainly be returning, and next time bringing our daughter. Can’t think of a certain thing I would change about this hotel. Many complaints of things being pricey, but for all you get and little travel you have to do it’s so worth it. ☀️

This hotel has potential. Luckily we found a last minute deal on the hotel, because I would have been upset if I paid full price. No where on the reservation or the website did it say that you have to valet your car, there is no parking on site. It's also $25 per day, and you have to pay up front for the week when you arrive. The hotel lobby had trash everywhere, all of the trash cans were overflowing. The service was horrible. There was supposed to be a computer and printer that I could use for work. They said they didn't know the code to get into the computer? We brought soup into the hotel and asked for a spoon and even though there was a restaurant attached, they said they could not give us one because the kitchen was closed. The "continental breakfast" was literally toast & apples. Kind of a disappointment. The location itself is gorgeous and has great views and beach access. The hose to clean off your feet from the beach was broken though, so we were covered in sand in our room. Also, check out was at 11 today. House keeping came by at 10:30 and asked when we were leaving, we said in a few minutes at 11, they posted up outside of our room and waited for us to leave, blocking the hallway. We had to squeeze by them to get out and they wouldn't move. I will not be coming back to this hotel

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hillsboro. Some pros: Beach access was very convenient! We hit up the grocery store upon arrival, so were able to easily escape to our room mid-day to enjoy some lunch then head back to the beach. The staff (front desk and valet) were always incredibly kind. We asked for a room with a balcony at check-in and got a free upgrade! Some (minor) cons: We wish the breakfast had more protein options. However, we knew this before we arrived so we grabbed some appropriate breakfast items from the store to eat in our room. The gap in the shower has got to be fixed—there is no door or curtain, only a half wall, so the already cramped bathroom gets full of water during every shower. We ordered a pizza for delivery our first night (after a long day of travel) but the valet is verrrry strict about who can enter the parking lot/garage. My husband had to meet the driver at the entrance to the driveway in the street… I had read some guest’s reviews about the hotel running out of clean beach towels, so we made sure to grab a fresh one whenever the saw the pile stocked. Obviously we would have loved to not have to valet the car every time we came and went, and instead have the cost to park added to the room charge, but again, that’s minor. Overall, my husband and I are pretty low-maintenance so The Hillsboro met our expectations.

Very friendly staff. Great beach at the hotel and chair and umbrella setup for free. Instant valet service which is mandatory but don’t allow you to tip for each car retrieval which is nice. Very clean.

Although this handicap accessible room was spacious and lovely. The closets were difficult to reach the bars. I had dresses w me that wouldn’t fit w/out having to fold on the bottom. A shower curtain would have been advantageous as well

Location Location Perfect location at the beach . Small quiet hotel. There needs to be more staff but the staff that are there are very friendly and helpful. Check in and out were a breeze. Would have liked the room cleaned daily but you have to call 24 hours in advance for that. The coffee at breakfast was excellent would have liked eggs included with the breakfast .valet service was excellent although you must pay $25 a day to park. Overall a very pleasant stay .

Property was cleanly maintained. The staff was friendly. The location was perfect for our activities. We would stay here again for future bookings.

Not a good place but cheap The best way to describe this hotel is extremely janky... 1) I am 6'4" and hit my head on multiple pipes in the parking area garage, I also hit my head going down the 2-3 stairs into the main lobby of the hotel from the parking area. You must walk through the parking garage to get into the lobby I also hit my head on some light fixture hanging in the poolside area. I am 6'4" not 7' tall. This place is a design disaster. 2) The lobby restaurant has one name on the door and wall, and another name on the menu. And it's never open when you need it to be open (at least not on Mondays or Tuesdays). 3) Could hear everything through my door into the hallway outside, which was loud with suitcases and people doing their thing. 4) Room smelled like mildew and mold the entire time. 5) They had little jars of fruit infused water in the lobby and every single time I tried to get some it was empty. Every single time over a 5 day stay. 6) Front desk staff didn't seem to have a good handle on what the job entailed beyond being on his phone the entire time. 7) The Sonder hotels have an app they require (!) you to download about the hotel to request cleanings and advise on check in time -- you must do this. I did it and thought nothing of it. However, after we left I keep getting messages about the "Your Stay at the Sonder Los Angeles" and the LA marathon on St Patrick's day -- I was at a Sonder in Florida. 8) I tried to request room cleanings 2x in the app. Both times it allowed me to select a date 2 days out but then the "request" button was greyed out. So I couldn't. The front desk said I had to do it through the app. 9) They had a continental breakfast in the hotel "restaurant" (which I never saw open other than at the breakfast time). They were out of coffee cups one morning. I asked the lady who was refilling the fruit or something, she shrugged and said "maybe we have more in the back". ** Maybe you have coffee cups??? ** Overall - I would not come back to this or another Sonder property after this stay. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves but the hotel was a running joke about everything being terrible after the pandemic, and this hotel being the poster child for the new terrible service world. The facilities were like a run down private club (more was closed than open, old signage, etc).

A hidden gem in Hillsboro Beach! Fabulous hotel, great staff and a beautiful room for the week. Loved that a continental breakfast was included and there were no surprise “extra charges” (such as beach chairs, umbrellas etc) as many others in the area charge for. There were beach toys and games for the kids and the grounds were well kept and clean. We will be returning!
