Overall, we had a great week at Hillsboro powered by Sonder. The location is in a very nice and quiet area. It is about a 10 minute drive to restaurants which was nice for us to be away from the hustle and bustle of spring breakers. A continental breakfast was provided by the restaurant on site. It consisted of coffee, juice, oatmeal, apples, assorted cereal packs, toast, bagels and muffins or banana bread. I think adding items such as fruit and a protein would be a nice balance. Keeping the breakfast properly stocked until close would keep people happier. We only had drinks and one lunch from the restaurant which was good but overpriced for a blt sandwich and quesadilla. A tip/service fee is already included in all restaurant purchases. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided at no additional fee which was a wonderful amenity. We were in a superior room which felt small but that was expected. I would get a larger room with a balcony next time. The towel bars in our bathroom were installed behind the bathroom door which made the small space feel even smaller as the door opens in front of the sink. I’d recommend moving those to the open wall across from the toilet. The room could have used a good wipe down of doors, knobs and all surfaces. Overall, the room was clean enough but had room for improvement. The room only has a bathroom mirror and does need a floor length mirror but space is an issue for that. There is not housekeeping unless requested at this property. We were aware of this before our arrival. We ran out of a few items during our stay. Fresh towels and extra toiletries were provided to us upon request with no issues. Valet is required and $25 a day. I would prefer to park myself and save the money but all valet staff were great and very friendly. When payment was due at the end of our stay for valet I was given the option to add tip at that time. That is how we tipped instead of tipping cash at every pickup. All the staff at this property were so kind and helpful. The property grounds including the pool area were clean and well kept. The best thing about the property is the ease of access to the beach and beautiful view. It doesn’t get easier than this to visit the beach. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great week!

The resort was very nice and clean. The beach in front of the resort was well maintained. The resort provides chairs and umbrellas for guests to use on the beach. The complementary breakfast was also very convenient. I would recommend this hotel.

Wonderful accommodations! A hidden gem. We visited with our 4 kids (1 infant) and were pleasantly surprised. The room (2 queens and pull out sofa) was plenty of space for us and the little kitchenette was a convenient. You can beat the beach access. Valet parking wasn’t ideal, but no complaints.

Super fun little place! In house restaurant was only ok and $25 a night to park. Great pool and beach access. The pool kid was super!! Parking people great also

I do not recommend this hotel. It is definitely a two-star hotel, at best. They do not clean your room unless you ask for it. Having said that, even if you do, there is no guarantee that they will clean it. The rooms themselves are run-down. Some plugs do not work. The food is nothing great. You are better off paying for an Airbnb because all you are paying for is the view, it seems. Stay far away from this hotel.

We had the best stay at Sonders in Hillsboro. The staff was amazing and loved the atmosphere was so calm and chill and great private beach. We will stay again and at other locations. Thank you to all staff!!!

I've stayed here twice. Once last year in March 2023 under the old ownership (Hillsboro Beach Resort) and just now again this past weekend (Feb 2024) with Sonder's new management and it remains one of my favorite resorts in Florida! Hands Down. There's not too many hotels that are literally on the beach like this. No crossing the street or having to walk through some long path. It's legit steps away from the property. If you're looking for a quiet chill beach getaway this is the spot for you. They are a little short staffed so you need to be a bit understanding with the beach attendant situation requesting umbrella's and requesting drinks, etc. The entire stay I personally didn't have any problems whatsoever with this. You simply have to ask and you will get what you request. The one time they were out of towels, I simply asked front desk and new one's were brought out instantly. The value is unbeatable for the price. Remember all other beach hotels like this in Florida at this level are going for almost double the rate. You get what you pay for. If you want a beach that's a giant party with people popping bottles left and right and blasting music then this is not be best place for you. Go to Miami instead. For families, couples, or people just looking for a low key chill beach getaway then this is the place to be. Deerfield beach is right there with Bars, Restaurants, etc. The hotel itself is secluded which is on purpose as it's the only hotel on the Private Beach.

Out of OJ?? Dirty floors! Excellent location, private beach. However...the smell of bleach in the rooms is overpowering. It gave me a headache. Interesting that they can use this much bleach to clean but our feet were black after just a few hours. If you want orange juice with your breakfast, better get there early. By 9a it was gone, completely out, no more for that day! Tables in eating area dirty.

My wife and I wanted to get away from winter, so we decided to checkout Hillsboro Beach Resort, Hillsboro, Fl. Let me tell you our stay was extra relaxing while we both work remotely. This is what you call business with pleasure, if there is one statement to say. The front desk person that help me the mos, that gentleman man was kind, generous and extra helpful on no matter the issue whether room change or lossing my hearing aids while swimming. We highly recommend this place on our next winter get away in the near future.

Nice place Very nice place right on the beach. We loved the heated pool, staff was very friendly, room was very clean when we got there. Premises seemed very clean as well. You can take a beach chair down for free and they’ll pick it up for you after you leave! ONLY things I wasn’t a big fan of: Told we weren’t allowed to have outside food or drink on the beach (we did the day before). Valet service is required ($25/day), but I knew that going into it. Was nice to have but pretty pricey.

Over rated, filthy and smelly. Disgusted at the erroneous ratings given to this resort. We had to change rooms three times. First room over run by ants that just freaked us out. The second room was smaller no view and dark. The lights flashed on and off. And it smelled horrible. Third and last room had such dirty floors My feet were stained from the filth. How could you guys give this place any consideration. Restaurant was less than adequate not having even half of the menu items available and the lunch server was a grumpy woman.

My review is not for staying at the hotel it’s for the hotel staff Jeanie and Michelle (I hope that’s her name) at the front desk. My sister had made a reservation a year in advance for her wedding night and sadly the hotel changed management and her reservation was likely lost in the mix of the change in hands. Although when arriving her room was gone they still accommodated them with a room but it was not what they wanted for their special night. The Girls were so helpful in taking care of the situation and the changes we had to make, I could not ask for more helpful people. Thank you ladies you are top tier in this profession!

Very beautiful well kept private beach, and modern hotel. Staff were friendly and check in was easy. Definitely a little far from stores/restaurants. Rooms were clean but a little sandy and damp upon arrival. Very reasonable price for an amazing location.

Beautiful private beach with attendant that will bring you food and drinks just like a bigger resort, food is very good. Well kept property, updated and clean rooms, very convenient valet parking. 10 min away from Boca Raton. We had some last minute issues and Michelle was very accommodating. Staff is very friendly.

I read reviews before I stay anywhere so hopefully this helps future guests make an informed decision! The Sonder at Hillsboro or Hillsboro Beach Resort is in a great quiet location just 1.7 miles down from Deerfield beach pier. There is a sidewalk to walk on to the pier where you’ll find newly renovated bathrooms, a fishing pier ($2 for a day pass for non residents) restaurants, coffee shops and a few beach stores. The rooms at the hotel are exactly as pictured, nice size with a great balcony. We lucked out and could see the ocean and marina from ours. The only parking at the hotel is $25/night valet parking with friendly valet employees at the entrance of the hotel who did a great job. The decor was modern and bright in the lobby, outside patio and pool area. The pool is nice and clean but not shielded from the wind and only in the sun until about noon then shaded from the buildings next door. The pool hours are short 8am-8 pm and no hot tub which was a disappointment. There is a grassy area before you take the stairs down to the beach. There are yard games to play and chair, umbrella, paddleboard, kayak and bike rentals. The beach is private and quiet but dirty with seaweed could use a raking. The lobby has water & coffee all day. The gym was small but nice and clean and over looked the ocean. We didn’t try the restaurant but nice to have the option. There is only 1 main elevator and stairs. We discovered one other elevator in the parking lot on the day we left. All in all the place was clean modern and great for the price. If you want a big fancy resort this isn’t your place. If you want a nice quiet stay with the basics this is it. My suggestions to Sonder is offer free use of the chairs as I saw 1 chair get rented the whole time we were there. Also offer house keeping daily for free or put a broom in each room. Otherwise thank you for the great stay!

My main issue is parking, which cost me 25$ a day, this is not luxury hotel to have so expensive parking. Second issue is customer service, our room never been cleaned for 8 days!

I stayed here late December 2023. The good: 1. Staff and valet were great. 2. Location is excellent. Right on the beach. There is also a pool and a small restaurant on site (I never ate there but it looked good). 3. The room itself was decorated nicely and had a great balcony. The bad: 1. The room was very “damp”. The second I walked in I felt it. Even the toilet paper was damp. Since I was staying for 8 days I actually went out and bought a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier actually filled up twice a day! However, once I did that my stay was great. It did cost me an extra $250 though! All in all I would give it 3 stars all in. The staff is great though so I would probably return. (Just hope they keep my dehumidifier to use next year hahah)

The hotel is a boutique hotel for sure, it’s beautiful. However, I was in the area for work so the lack of amenities and anything fun didn’t bother me much but if you’re here for a vacation, this may not be the best choice. Pool is small, but I didn’t get to use due to weather. Beach is right behind, which is convenient but not a big deal. My biggest issue was the night I got in. I went to my room to change and wanted to step out to grab a bite but as I closed my door and checked if it locked - the door wouldn’t lock. I called front desk and the lady I spoke to said she had to put in a ticket and because it was after 5pm it can take up to 24 hours before anybody came. So I asked if I can be moved to another room because I have belongings and I have to leave the next morning for work and she simply said “no” and I asked if I was supposed to not step out because now my door doesn’t lock? And she said it was up to me but there was nothing she can do. So I went on the app and spoke to someone on the chat and the person said the same thing but then he looked for a resolution and got someone there in about 30-45 min. Besides this, there is no self-parking. Only valet and it’s $25 per day. Overall, if you’re going for the aesthetic of this hotel, you’ll love it. But it’s not the best in my opinion. I wouldn’t stay again.

Had an amazing stay at Hillsboro Beach Resort. We had reserved a king bedroom suite and it turned out to be a one bedroom apartment with a spectacular ocean view and terrace. It had two bathrooms and a kitchenette with small refrigerator and microwave-very convenient for breakfast and snacks. So much space to spread out and enjoy that beautiful view. We were only two people but a family of four could easily be comfortable. Valet parking was extremely easy ($25/night) and service at the hotel couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. The pool is heated. We tried the restaurant for breakfast on our last day and we’re sorry we hadn’t eaten there sooner. It was great with an oceanfront seat that can’t be beaten. What an incredibly good value the hotel is.

There were a couple little things that could have been improved, but overall it was a lovely stay and decently priced compared to other places in the area. We had a balcony with a view of the ocean, which was my favorite part. A lot of people mention valet parking as a complaint, but we didn't have any issues. They were prompt when we requested our vehicle and during the eves, we let uber/ lyft be our designated driver. The private beach was nice, we just laid out on towels and didn't sobthe chairs. It's not ultra fancy, but it was comfortable and we slept with the balcony partially open so we could hear the ocean waves. Very serene and relaxing.

If I can give no stars I would! I was staying here and left a jacket in the room and when I checked out and was on the way to the airport I realized the jacket was still in the closet. When I called to ask for it and send my sister to pick it up they magically said there was no jacket. And funny enough. Someone checked in right after me. So if they didn’t clean the room accordingly or left the jacket in the closet the next guest could have taken it. Or the staff took it. It was a very expensive jacket from another country. I tried several times to rectify the situation the manager was terrible, the front desk were extremely young and inexperienced clearly, and no one ever followed up. I gave them ample time to find a solution and they didn’t. Just overall terrible company. I will never stay with them again and it’s a no brainer why they have such low ratings on here. They stole my jacket, never offered a solution then guaranteed me their staff wouldn’t do that. No one knows all of their staff especially the cleaning staff on a personal level to guarantee that. Garbage place with garbage staff!

I can't understand why quests left such bad reviews. It's my second day currently at the hotel and we couldn't be happier.The location of this place is literally right on the beach, it is farther away from restaurants and things to do, but to me makes great location because it is quiet and peaceful ,you literally get beach to yourself and you are away from tourists, noise etc.You can walk on the beach it is about 1.9 mile to the Deerfield pier where is many attractions or a very short car/cab drive.We have a superior suite for me,my sister and niece ,it is very spacious we have three king size beds and it makes perfect for our girl trip.Everyone in the hotel is extremely helpful and nice and you get the best restaurant with delicious meals while overlooking the ocean.Its a small boutique hotel so if you ate expecting big resort with lots of amenities it might not be place for you. But if you looking for a quiet beach stay you can't find better spot.

The hotel staff are bad, the hotel smells and is dirty! There is too much noise and poor insulation! All they think about is money! He thinks how can they get more money from you? The food in the restaurant is very expensive! The electrical systems in their rooms are broken!The cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel is very bad. The pool is not like in the pictures. Most of the items are broken, old and renovated. The hotel is not a new hotel, it has been renovated. The furniture in the hotel was painted and repairs were attempted.

Nice location. Some adjustments needed but may revisit The experience overall was good. The room I initially got was way too small but Kiao at the front desk took my concern seriously when I discussed with him that with a child that the room would be too small and that the crib provided was also a little dirty. He worked over the course of a day to find a more suitable and better room and a better crib. He updated me regularly until he was able to accommodate me. I am thankful for him as it made a big difference in our first vacation to Florida. As maid service to clean the room is only upon request, I took advantage every time I saw them in the halls cleaning other rooms to ask them for fresh towels for my room if I was not getting it cleaned that day. They gladly provided me with them each time and this kept me stocked up each day. The floors in the rooms track in a lot of sand from outside and so naturally the floors in the room felt very dirty but we just went to a local Walmart and bough a disposable wet/dry mop for $15 and did a quick sweep of the room everyday to keep the floors clean. I personally dont think that customers should have to pay $25/night to park their car. I understand that its a way to make money for the company but ideally I think it would make more sense for customers if the price was factored into the price of the hotel or provide a more reasonable rate such as $10-$15 per night. I did not spend much time on the beach due to the weather but when I asked about the chairs, it was said they were only available for rent. Again, not ideal for people who are already paying to stay at the property. As a customer when someone is paying to stay somewhere, they are expecting full access to the facility. Its not the end of the world but I think again it would make more sense to factor these things into the price of the stay to avoid customers feeling like they are being pinched for each penny. Overall, the stay was positive those were just some minor things I could comment on. The location is ideal and the room I was switched to is what I would book again at the very minimum if I were to re-visit the property. Thanks again to Kiao at the front desk. His help was appreciated and made the experience wonderful.

The Spirit Airlines of resorts, thankfully minus the snarky personnel All staff were pleasant, gracious and helpful throughout our visit. The hotel is right on the beach, room was decent and clean. It was difficult to book with the Hilsboro Resort because ownership changed hands and our reservation was lost. When we rebooked with Sonder, the new owners, I asked customer service if beach chairs and umbrellas were available, included in the price, or pay by the day. They replied available and included in price. I looked on the website to see how housekeeping worked. It stated that you needed to request housekeeping on the app 24 hours ahead. Bicycles were supposedly free and available. We arrived. The beach chairs were $15 per day per chair and umbrellas were an additional $15. Room cleaning was $20 extra per service. Bicycles were $10 per hour per bike. A local friend wanted to eat lunch at the on-site restaurant with us and parking was $15. That all would have been fine if I had known ahead and factored these into my decision about where to stay. I would have picked another hotel with services included and prices coming out to around the same amount when all was added up. There is an air of hospitality that comes with included services even though the prices may ultimately be around the same amount. I didn't opt to get any of the add-on services because I made do without. The ploy of sustainability and allowing for customer price choice is a ploy to cut down on staff and costs for the hotel, nothing more. Also, Sonder should BE HONEST during the booking process and give their customer service reps correct information. The beach had a lot of trash and beach erosion had taken some of the patio and wall. It was windy when we stayed, so maybe that could be an excuse for the trash?

Bad roosm, expensive fees, very rude worker, dirty hotel! Stay away! I read bad comments about this hotel,but I still decided to give it a chance. but definitely this hotel is bad! I paid extra for the asuperior room, and the room they gave mewas smaller than a bathroom. Yes, you heardright! I wanted to talk about this situation with the hotel officials, but they did not listen to me. They said they were too busy and couldn't do anything. This hotel is a waste of money and time. They told me very rudely that if I didn't like the room, I could leave the hotel immediately inadequate, bad, and rude work. Wasat design, security is very weak. You pay 25 dollars a day for a valet, but if any of your belongings are stolen from your car, the hotel is not responsible! Also, their insulation is very poor. If you want a terrible room and a terrible holiday, yes, this is the right hotel The rooms are dirty, and the electrical sockets do not work. and no one cares about this situation.They charge a daily fee for the beach. Yes, when you step into this hotel, you pay extra for everything, but you will never get a good service.Trust me, this hotel is made to waste your money. If you don't want your holiday to be ruined, really stay away from this hotel! What is the difference between the standard room and the superior room? Superior rooms are superior to standard rooms, which are merely standard and not superior. "Superior" rooms are larger, have a better view

Great location. Cute concept. High emphasis on aesthetic but very low safety and cleanliness standards for a 4 star establishment. There is no one to call if you need assistance with your room or booking. I was told they are still “figuring it out” and that it is a “Hybrid” establishment. Hybrid is perfect to describe this place: Imagine marble side table with plastic vinyl on the inside or cabinets and wall fixtures like the One Hotel yet the wood on the floor is cheep tile and clean enough for you not to complain, modern decor yet the air conditioning appliance is old, a bit dusty and noisy…. Not a 4 star establishment and I must be stuck in an earlier part of the 21st century because the “hybrid, figuring it out” model of operation doesn’t work for me.

Ok place but small roomd This hotel is just ok. I travelled with my husband and Adult son. We had two queen room. Room is small. There is a full kitchen. Full size refrigerator. Cabinets with nothing in them. Coffee maker. Bathroom is very small. You need to shut the door to get to the sink. Strange shower set up as well. Rooms are dark and there are no dressers. Just a closet with some shelves. Valet is $25 a day, which is excessive. Restaurant on site is pricey and service is slow. Food is average.
