A very pleasant stay in the DC area
I experienced my first Sonder stay and I will visit again when I travel. My lodging was a one bedroom apartment with all of the amenities necessary for a short or lengthy stay. Sonder units share a very pleasing esthetic with tasteful, modern uncluttered furnishings. This property was located in a pleasant part of Alexandria, VA with numerous restaurants and coffee shops within a short walk.
I enjoyed being in an apartment setting instead of the typical extended stay hotel. I could walk out the door onto a nice city street, rather than a parking lot in an outlying freeway exit.
That said, being located in the city also brings its compromises, such as city traffic noise (for which the host thoughtfully provided ear plugs) Also, there is no on-premises parking. However, I had no difficulty finding street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
Also, be advised that this property is a two story walk up, with no elevators. So, if mobility is an issue, this may not be the best choice.
The property had a two night minimum stay, which might be an issue for some guests, but the pricing was reasonable, so I decided to go for it, even though I didn't check in until the middle of the second day.
As with all Sonder properties, there is no front desk or on-premises staff. Everything is handled remotely via app and electronic entry. I found Sonder's communications clear and responsive, so I didn't miss having a front desk and the other accouterments of a hotel.
All together a very good stay.
