10/10 Exceptional
I don’t normally leave reviews, but I was a little confused about what we would be getting at this hotel, and we ended up being really happy with it.
The location was amazing, especially for the price. 5-10 minutes to walk to Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile. About 15-20 minutes to walk to the river and Michigan Ave (Wrigley Building, boat tours, Riverwalk), 25 minutes to Millennium Park (the bean). We also rented bikes at Navy Pier which allowed us to explore the lakefront, which I highly recommend.
The room was great, with a washer/dryer and full kitchen. This allowed us to pack lighter and to save money on food. (You’re going to end up with leftover deep dish pizza so it’s nice to have an oven.) There was detergent provided for the washer and dishwasher, and the toiletries in the shower were all top notch. There was an electric kettle separate from the coffee machine which was nice for us tea drinkers. They even had Harney & Sons tea! We ran out and asked for more tea, and they brought us more the same day.
We used the luggage lockers both travel days, and none of the lockers seemed to work, but it felt safe enough to us being on the 8th floor and needing a code to get up the elevator. The lockers were all used up one of the days, but they had wire shelving placed in the room for overflow.
There was some construction noise that was quite loud, but not really the hotel’s fault. Just factor in that you’ll want to be out of the room weekdays 8:30-3-ish because it was too loud to even think. We had already planned to do that anyway.
All in all, we’ll definitely be back. A lot of the other hotels in the area are older and reviews complained about noisy/inefficient HVAC or other problems. This was new, clean, and cheaper with so many more conveniences. I’ll take that with no room service or doorman any day.
