10/10 Exceptional
This property is a renovated Lower East Side tenement building from the late 19th/early 20th century. It contains 20 or so units. The vibe is of a small hotel, though the front desk is virtual, so you really feel as if you're staying at your own pied-a-terre in the city. The room was well appointed and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of plush towels. We enjoyed having the microwave and mini-fridge so we didn't have to go out for breakfast. The floors are laminate (faux wood) so there's no gross carpet. It's right off Delancey, just a few blocks from Essex Market (superb) and the subway (convenient). For these former New Yorkers visiting the city, it was just about perfect. A little noisy on Friday night but what a lively neighborhood! We felt safe walking day and night. Convenient walking to Chinatown, Soho, etc. and easy travel to the rest of the city by bus (stops right outside the front door) or subway.
