10/10 Exceptional
Five stars, and I mean every one of them, not necessarily for the stay, as a few things need work, but for the people.
Mel at the front desk is genuinely one of the warmest, most attentive people I've encountered in hospitality. She remembered details from our very first conversation, greeted us with a real smile every time, and clearly takes pride in taking care of her guests. That kind of presence is rare and it sets the entire tone of a stay. I even asked for the manager's name specifically because I wanted to make sure she was recognized.
On that note---a few thoughts from someone with 10+ years in business and guest experience, offered with full respect and good intent. Reviews exist not to tear down, but to help great places get even better.
This location already does a lot right. Three loads of laundry during my stay? That kind of accommodating, flexible service is genuinely above and beyond. But the details matter too, and the gap between "good" and "exceptional" often lives in the small stuff.
For example: getting a cup of ice meant going downstairs and digging through a communal bag. It's a minor thing, but it chips away at the experience. I also noticed that Mel had gone out and bought a luggage scale with her own money for guests. That's extraordinary dedication, and it's also a signal. Your staff knows exactly what guests need day to day. They're already solving problems on their own dime.
My honest suggestion to management: Create a standing channel where your team can submit the small, recurring friction points they notice... things guests ask for, things that are slightly off, things nobody budgets for because nobody's tracking them. Work that list into a 6-month operational review. A lot of those problems are cheap to fix. Most of them just need someone to ask.
Parking is tough in Austin.... I get it -- any way to provide any free locations close by... would be awesome. But the things you can solve? Solve them. You've already got a team that cares enough to solve them on their own. Meet them halfway.
Mel, if you see this-- thank you. You made Austin feel like home.
