10/10 Exceptional
We loved our stay at The Clyde, a little oasis in the city hustle. We were looking for an affordable place near downtown restaurants, Powell's Books, and accessible to public transportation, and this totally was it. The lobby and common areas are lovely to relax in, and we liked the delicious connected coffee shop with breakfast options. The room is a funky unique layout, with toilet/shower/sink all in different spots, and we enjoyed the historic building's cool features. The radio was mentioned in other reviews, and it IS very cool to walk in to some casual jazz music and feel like you're in another era. The staff was welcoming and helpful, including night security.
We didn't notice much street noise, as some other reviewers shared concerns about. After dark, we did see some interesting characters around downtown and would recommend not wandering too close to Old Town as it gets later, and/or definitely take a travel buddy. Unfortunately people are struggling, and we did see some evidence of mental health concerns and drug use.
The above concerns are why The Clyde is definitely an oasis! Calm, safe, kind people and a comfortable and clean room are a big deal. Thank you Kasa!
