Can't really beat the location, and the shared spaces that were left over from the Ace Hotel have maintained their charm. The few staff that I interacted with were pleasant and helpful (even the poor housekeeping staff who got yelled at by some entitled lady expecting a fully-staffed check-in maintained an understanding, professional demeanor). The fully app-based self-help hotel experience definitely isn't for everybody: so the lowered cost of a lodging option like this comes with its own trade-offs. There are only two shared bathrooms on the floor, which never had a line or anything - but are a bit of a walk; having an ensuite was a convenience I didn't know I missed until it was gone.
Although feeling a bit more like a hostel/dorm than a hotel: this met all the basic needs of having a place to stay, and was by far the most affordable option for staying in downtown. Would recommend to younger solo travelers, and anybody willing to make a few sacrifices to save money.
