10/10 Exceptional
The Clyde Hotel Portland is located on the edge of the Pearl District. The area is upbeat, brimming with excellent restaurants and shopping. Powell's Books is a stone's throw. We dined in the Pearl most days and did not have a bad meal. In fact, we had EXCELLENT food and I'm a food snob.
In the hotel, the room is supplied with super high quality linens, toiletries, and tea/coffee. On the second floor (IMO the best floor because it's wandering distance to the breakfast room) is the communal kitchen open from 7am to 10pm. All of the guests are super considerate and you can fix your coffee, breakfast, water, tea needs with real cups or take out.
The design of the entire hotel is utterly committed to its industrial chic concept. The mezzanine is a great place to get your living room fix - a home away from home. The first floor lobby is comfy, inviting and wide open.
My room had the claw tub with shower and I felt like I had so much space to get clean. Everything I needed was in the room. Ample plugs for all your electronics. TV if you want it. Fridge in room to store all your restaurant doggie bags. We ate all of the stuff we couldn't finish and just heated in the aforementioned kitchen's microwave.
At first, I had to adjust to the simple closet/no drawers design. Kind of a pain, but the high shelf allowed us to shelve our luggage and keep the room tidy. That was the only challenge.
LOVED our stay and highly, highly recommend the Clyde in Portland!!!
