Never again would I stay there. We arrived for a 5 night stay and were told that rooms are not serviced, at all. Ummmm? Not acceptable at these rates. Our stay went downhill from there.

Visited the Frenchmen Hotel as a solo traveler in Nola. My stay was convenient and cozy. The staff was friendly and helpful in giving recommendations nearby. My only disappointment was that the power went out in the area for half the day, serving as an inconvenience as I was getting ready. Although not the hotel’s fault, there was no comp for the inconvenience.

Waste of money Likes: The pool and courtyard . Cool interior design Dislikes: Our room was horrible. On the street level. No bars on the window. You could see straight into the room from the sidewalk. Room was cold and felt like a youth hostel.. floor was freezing no rug. Heater had wires hanging from it. Heater thermostat was broken and wouldn’t turn off when room got to temp. Super loud with the property gate banging when everyone came in and out. Hotel staff cleaning early in the AM was loud.

The property is lovely but the building across the street is a complete eye sore - graffiti broken windows. It’s such a shame. The hotel is funky and has a private bar, pool, hot tub. But the area has gotten rougher post Covid. Not the Frenchman’s fault - but as a heads up.

Great location, potentially great hotel but missed opportunity. Likes: The Frenchman is located in a wonderful part of New Orleans and allows guests to walk to all the major attractions. Also, the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful! The Tiki bar is very nice. Dislikes: The hotel itself has a lot of potential, but the rooms were very small and not as clean as I expected. The amenities of the hotel were also not available, such as the Jacuzzi, and they offered a water fountain in the lobby that we found empty one day with no way to refill it. For the price the hotel charges, I think these things need to be adjusted.

Loud and a little unsafe Likes: Nice beds and shower Dislikes: Location - noise until 3 am! Deadbolt lock broken from inside. Room in alleyway on street level.

Likes: It had a nice older French theme. It was cozy and affordable.

Hotel was unique

The Frenchmen is a perfect location to explore the music and vibe of the Quarter without a lot of the traffic. Our room was very tiny, but efficient and the bed was clean and comfortable. It is a good budget hotel with character. There is no breakfast however the lobby coffee pot wasn’t reliable either. Scope out your breakfast options beforehand. “Who Dat?” Cafe is a trek but has great coffee and breakfast.

The staff was very friendly, the place is darling and it’s close to a lot of restaurants and bars.

We booked The Frenchman due to the nostalgic look, we did read some of the reviews and wondered how bad it could be. When we arrived for check-in we had to be let in as the main entrance was locked. When we were offered a complimentary pair of earplugs that should have been our first clue. We checked in and went to find our room. We booked a queen room and that's all it was, a very small room with only a full mattress, not queen. The room was extremely small and the bathroom was smaller. It certainly was not like any of the pictures on the website. We spent the night and pre-booked at another hotel.

Amazing Old World Charm!!! Love love love this hotel!!!! Such old world charm but luxurious! The staff was so lovely! We got there 7am and were going to leave our luggage but they offered us an upgrade and we were able to check right in and nap! The tiki bar is AWESOME! And the hot tub is nice after walking all day. It really feels like you’re in Europe. Will definitely stay there again!

We had a very nice stay at the Frenchmen Hotel. The location is right at the end of Frenchmen street which is great if you want easy access to many music venues in the French Quarter. We went out of season so it was relatively quiet but would be very noisy in season.

Everything we wanted From the moment we checked in (very late, just before midnight) the Frenchman was everything we hoped for. Apart from a slight problem with the bedroom door when we arrived, which was soon resolved, we had a perfect holiday. The staff were brilliant, going over and beyond to ensure our stay was what we had envisaged. Location was perfect, away from the mayhem of Bourbon, with more music than you could shake a stick at. We wanted the laid back ambience that New Orleans is famous for and we found it…..and if these old bones ever drag themselves over the Atlantic again, this is where we are heading. Once again, diolch yn fawr iawn (thank you very much, in Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿). Cheers.

Could have stayed longer. Likes: Excellent hotel. We wanted something 'different' from a corporate establishment. The Frenchman was perfect in every respect. Starting with our late arrival, to a slight problem with room, the staff were brilliant in everything, nothing was too much trouble for them. The location and music venues was everything we hoped for. Only sorry we didn't stay longer. It made for a trip of a Lifetime.

Relaxing and like home from home. Likes: The hotel is charming and the area is vibrant without being overrun by tourists. The hotel staff were more than friendly. They helped me when I was in a bit of a jam, making it apparent that this is a small independently owned business, who treats their guests like humans. Dislikes: I wasn't there during the weekend, but I would assume it might get noisy when the hotel rooftop bar is open. But this is mentioned on the website.

Great except no hot water for shower.

Will come back This is not the first time in this hotel. And we will come back again. The room was very small, but quiet, despite the festive atmosphere of Frenchmen street. The staff was very courteous. The Nola decor is what we were looking for. And I can't thin of a better location in the city: Frenchmen street is where the music lives..

Little Oasis in New Orleans Likes: The hotel is super cute and looks just like the photos. The lobby is adorable and the pool is amazing for cooling off in New Orleans. Located right on Frenchman Street, it's right in the mix of things but is tucked away enough so that it's not too loud. It's just a quick walk to Bourbon street and not nearly as touristy feeling. We had a room upstairs and it was spacious and perfect for our needs. Dislikes: Check in experience could be a little smoother. We were unable to get into the hotel and had to wait at the front door for a little bit before we got the attention of the front desk. Also, the Tiki Tock bar next door is cool in theory but the employees are rude and weird about trying to get a regular drink that is not a tiki drink.

We would love to stay here again! Likes: There are many things to love about the property. The hotel is well situated to the French Quarter and Frenchmen area. We were within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, French Market, the river and more. The design of the common spaces and hotel rooms were nearly works of art. We loved the color palette and unique design elements. It has a pool and a very fun adjacent tiki bar. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The bathroom tile was unexpected and beautiful. It was nice to have a refrigerator. Everyone in our group said the same about their rooms. The staff is very personable and accommodating. Dislikes: The hotel rooms don’t offer much storage space for unpacking. There’s a tiny desk, a tiny closet and a tiny shelf over the sink in the bathroom.

Likes: The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms (there was even a tv by the shower), and high quality service.

Highly recommend! Likes: Perfect location for exploring by foot. Safe, clean accommodations and friendly staff. Dislikes: It was noisy on Saturday night, but the staff had let us know in advance and we were prepared. Just part of the experience of staying on Frenchmen St. And it was worth it!

Likes: The location is fantastic, though like anywhere in the middle of New Orleans, be prepared for the noise! One of the receptionists was amazing--incredibly helpful and kind. The beds were also very comfortable, and the hotel as a strong personal style. Dislikes: One of the receptionists was very rude, and the amount quoted to us on Booking.com was lower than what they charged us in person, citing something ridiculous about taxes (already itemized on the Booking reservation). We were already there and had a large, multi-room group so we decided to just pay it, but it was frustrating. Also keep in mind there is no elevator, so minimally you'll need to go up/down a few steps even if you have a ground floor room.

Built in 1860, the hotel is very old and quaint. It was in a great area with everything within very close walking distance. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. You are not staying at a 5 star hotel with all the services but for us, it was great since we were never in our room anyway. If you are bothered by noise, don't get a room on the street. Our room was in the courtyard so the noise was not an issue. I would stay there again.

Likes: Perfect location, right next to great bars and music venues! And the pool was needed in the heat! Dislikes: This will sound weird, but because we were up late having fun in the city we often slept through when housekeeping would come to clean the room, which was annoying.

Loved this hidden gem!

Charming Hotel in Great Location Likes: I think the criticism of this hotel is unfair. I nearly cancelled after reading some of the reviews. I’m glad I didn’t. This hotel is charming and billed as a 2 star so don’t expect luxury but it’s a quaint historic property in a great location at one end of Frenchman street. That means it is right in the midst of great bars, cafes and breakfasts. But we had a room set back off the street on the inner courtyard and didn’t experience any of the noise that other guests have complained about. Staff were lovely. Dislikes: The bathrooms were tiny but it is a quirky little hotel and it’s billed as an2 star so it doesn’t pretend to be luxurious. We found it charming. And we wish we’d brought our swimsuits because even in November the weather was fantastic and the heated pool looked so inviting.

Had a fantastic time in this very different hotel. Great unusual decor in rooms. Super comfy beds, great shower, towels and toiletries supplied. Staff friendly. Good coffee and great cocktail bar and dip pool with the hotel. Absolutely loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Our rooms.looked out onto frenchman Street and the upstairs part of the cocktail bar. Wasn't disturbed by loud noise and I was near cocktail bar. Cocktails were great and it was lovely watching the lady make all the cocktails Sis heard the fire engines a bit and some.late night revellers but all.part of the holiday and what you would expect of new orleans. Lovely find, happy to recommend. Many thanks to everyone

Beautiful and great loacation This hotel is gorgeous. Everything I wanted from a beautiful New Orleans building! I didn't go in but the pool was stunning. Air con and fridge in the room. Corner shops nearby for water etc. The location was perfect. Right next to the french market, street car stop and frenchmen street bazaar and pubs. The noise didn't keep us awake at all and we were directly above reception next to the stairs. The Tiki Tok was great next door too. My one and only issue was that we were there for 5 nights with lots of luggage and there were no drawers or wardrobe for our clothes. We were in america for 17 nights and could have done with somewhere for our things. Instead of the quite usless desk under the TV, a huge set of drawers for storage would have been so much more helpful. Our room was large and could have handled lots more storage options. A full length mirror would have been nice too. Even if it was in the hall! All we had was some hangers on wall hooks. The bathroom was clean and very nice. The decor in the place was fantastic. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. Despite the lack of storage, as everything else was great. If you do have large cases, be aware there's no lift. BEAUTIFUL hotel.
