We stayed at the Lafayette by Kasa during a week in April for 4 nights It wasn't a festival, or anything, and that was fine by us. The weather was perfect.
Positives:
-The price point is very very good compared to others in the area
-The location is perfect, it is right on the Streetcar line and we used that a LOT, although we actually walked from the hotel many many times to various places around New Orleans
-When we asked for something, it was provided pretty quickly by the staff
-We got a room with a balcony view, and it was so nice to be able to open that window and look out, getting some fresh air and watch the people go by
-We didn't need a vehicle from this location
Negatives:
-Know that this is an older hotel and that's how it is furnished/decorated
-While the staff would answer questions and helped (e.g. the valet was so helpful outside and so nice, pointing us in the correct direction to walk whenever we asked), different people could also be short and didn't readily provide information that we would have liked to know (e.g. there is a free concert series in the park on Wednesday nights right in Lafayette Square/right next to the hotel. Wish someone would have told us this)
-The nights can be LOUD and it can be hard to sleep. Note, the hotel DID provide us with earplugs (that's how loud it is)
-While the room was clean, the common areas can be dirty. E.g. the mezzanine bathrooms were dirty and the morning coffee area (which is hard to get to) is just a Keurig machine which you have to figure out where/how to get water to refill as there is no one "manning" that area. I know there's not going to be breakfast, but I guess I expect a hotel to offer coffee a little more accessibly than that. To note, there is an individual coffee station in the room as well.
Would I stay here again? Overall, probably not. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't if the positives fit your needs and you don't care about my personal "negatives".
