8/10 Very good
Good pied-a-terre in north Alexandria/DC area
Comfortable enough -- king-size bed was crammed in it's sleeping niche a little tight, had to crawl in from the foot. Big windows overlooking the street -- a little street noise at night, but not so bad that it would keep you from falling asleep. One side of the bed had some outlets for charging on the nightstand, the other didn't. Kitchen was well appointed, and there was a large closet -- but only 3 hangers, so not quite sure what the rest of the space was for. No drawers if you wanted to unpack. If they had just put a set of cubicles in half the closet and thrown in a few more coat hangers, it would have been ideal. Large TV and a couple of comfortable chairs to sit in, a small bistro table in the kitchen area. Took a minute to figure out the heating/cooling (needed to use a remote), but figured it out. Bathroom was compact, and you needed two steps up to reach it -- not ideal at night in a dark, unfamiliar room. Bathroom was clean, small sink surround, so no real place for toiletries. Shower is looking a little tired, with discolored grout here and there, and mildewed caulking. NO ELEVATORS, so pack accordingly for somewhat steep stairs. Pet friendly, but the small dog three doors down yapped for a solid two hours one morning. Lobby had storage bins with extra towels, tea, coffee, etc. if needed, and a little dog corner with treats and some poop bags, etc. Great neighborhood, plenty of choices in dining, and a nice school playground across the street for kids (not during school hours, tho). Quick access to Capital Hill and the Mall, either by Metro or drive. 7 minutes to Reagan airport.
