I purchased trip insurance through Airbnb ($60+) because I am caregiver to my mom but had made arrangements for a dear friend to stay with her. She fell and broke her hip the night before I was getting to town. Nobody upheld the trip insurance I paid for, the host said ‘sorry, no cancellation insurance, Airbnb emailed for 2 straight days while I was in the hospital to ask if I could host another date and they and I could transfer my stay, finally the insurance company I paid reached out and said, sorry we can’t help’.
I am going back to using hotels because serious emergencies happen and it is a huge expense I now have to pay on my credit card and I never made it there. I was also NOT REFUNDED THE CLEANING FEE!! I kept telling host that I cancelled and was never there but no response!! At least return the cleaning fee….
