Castro Overnight Stay Quaint, cozy, and centrally located to Castro. The room was nicely appointed with many amenities such as two TVs, Google assistant, a balcony with chairs, comfortable bed, large shower, light snacks and free drink tokens for the lovely bar below. Check-in/out was all done digitally and the directions were clear and easy to follow. Definitely check out the roof top patio for gorgeous views of the city!

The location & the window made it survivable. LOUSY service for the OVERPRICED stay. Likes: Location is only salvation. Close to great Pasta restaurant Pasta Panino. The room was saved by the huge floor to ceiling windows & the well done "balcony" foliage. Dislikes: The room was small and cramped. No sink in bathroom Sink in room has faucet descending too far into sink-- could only take for quick stay. I was told the room was large enough for 6 (?!???!) people and originally had planned to have a friend come stay. Well that ended once I saw the space. NO WAY could two people manage 3 days there as friends. I had to ask her not to come! And I got the "King Suite". The room was not clean for standard or for price-- stains on cabinet doors. Dust clumps (large) tissues & other items wedged between wall & bed. I asked for room service, saw the worker who said she had not gotten request (?) but would come back at 3 -- never saw her again. The sounds of the room above me were very noisy with their feet loudly stomping around for 2 nights-- not a problem but to be noted. I was shocked on arrival at size of room compared to photos/ ads. I called to ask for different room-- no concern/ o room/ no check back from the 650 # advertising "24 hour concierge service". I have photos of broken socket cover and oily cabinet doors

Great place! Amazing, quiet, and comfortable space. Loved the 3 layer security and the ease of it. Check-in and out was smooth. Next time in San Francisco, this will be the first place I will check for availability. Highly recommended to anyone. Thanks again Hotel Castro for making my stay great!

Really sweet & lovely place! In a great walking location, and the quality / upkeep of the rooms is awesome. Super easy to check in and get access to the room. Had a bit of an issue with stuff that I left behind, but they were able to resolve it with me :-) just be mindful to not leave anything behind, because it’s a bit of a process to get the items returned to you. So all in all: amazing location, overpriced for what you get a bit, and customer support was able to come around when I left some of my belongings back in the room. Great work Kasa team!

Beautiful place Everything is the hotel room was very nice and beautiful and I love that everything was virtual. The bathroom was nice I like they designed that y’all did was very nice and was able to fix three people lol

Like the prior reviewer said, a Nespresso and the fog make it all perfect. You had me at Nespresso! This boutique hotel in the Castro is beautifully designed and well appointed. High end bath products, fabulous outside space and flawless automated check in made an evening in the neighborhood delightful. Super comfortable bed, excellent HVAC and windows that open! Thank you Hotel Castro for a fantastic SF visit and jumping off point for the DeYoung Museum the following day.

A Great Boutique Hotel The room was perfect for one person. It was well designed, very contemporary. I loved that it has a small bar as it's "lobby". And the roof top view was pretty awesome. The location in the heart of the Castro district is great! Located across from a grocery store with a laundry a few buildings away and of course close to all the bars and restaurants. I highly recommend The Hotel Castro!

Incredible spot with great location! Booking and check-in was super smooth.

Room smelled like stale cigarette smoke and hairspray. The bed smelled like oily hair. Even after airing it out for 4 hours. The bed itself is extra extra plush, so you sink into it, with your body in a u-shape. The sheets were coarse cotton mix if not wholly synthetic. Super hot and scratchy. Location’s great, if loud. Overall, overpriced and unclean.

Pleasantly Surprised and amazed ! I travel a lot and this being a small hotel in a city next to where I live I didn’t know what to expect. Is a small haven. I will stay again!! The towels were soft and good quality, top quality products and appliances. The bed is super comfortable the pillows, I was pleasantly surprised of the design of how to make a small space look amazing and functional. I highly recommend this hotel !!

Chic Accomodations in the Heart of the City The room was lovely and comfortable, perfect size for one person, was conveniently located near public transit, and I was able to watch Detox from Drag Race All Stars 2 perform at the brunch spot on the corner downstairs from my balcony. This is definitely the place to stay to get the most out of your visit to the Castro, or San Francisco as a whole. 11/10 would recommend.

More accommodation options is great for our small businesses and overall health of our neighborhood. Especially at a time half of the storefronts on Castro St are empty. So I’m thankful that they are here. Neighborhood NIMBYs fought this hotel’s operating permit because it would “cause noise” (next to all the rowdy bars that have been here forever). After the hotel installed noise sensors to appease them, they are now complaining that “noise sensors are creepy”. 🤦‍♂️

As other reviewers have said, prepare for very small rooms! However, room is very well thought out in terms of storage and user-friendliness. Location great, remote check in very easy. Tho no front desk, the Kasa team was incredibly responsive in attending to our text messages… got back within seconds to our requests/questions. We were lucky to get a room in back of hotel.. incredibly quiet. Not so sure about front rooms. Rooms immaculate and bed was super comfy.

1 star because they wouldn't let me change my reservation even though I requested it more than 60 days prior to check-in. So if you book, don't expect any flexibility. I'll never stay here again because of that. Decor - 5 stars. It was a pretty place Function - 2 stars. Faucet was too low in the sink. Could barely fit my hands underneath it. Room was super small. Had to crawl over the front of the bed to get in it. It needed a couple different design choices and it would've been fine Location - 5 stars. Heart of the Castro. Loved that. Price - it was fine for the area.

The rooms are so cute and nice! They have cookies, coffee, tea, earplugs, eye covers, everything to make your stay comfortable and they even give you a token for a free drink downstairs! Location is also great. No staff on site, but honestly didn't matter because everything needed was provided. If you do need help, you're able to text them. Loved staying here.

The room was great! The area was incredible! It’s not a traditional hotel where you can get room service and stuff but there are plenty of restaurants/bars in the area. There was a strange flashing red light in the room in the middle of the night. I don’t know what that was about but everything was fine

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay! The room was clean, cozy, and had tons of natural light from the massive windows. The view was also gorgeous and location was perfect!

We loved our stay at Hotel Castro. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed. The room was quiet even though the neighborhood was in full party mode around us. The location is surrounded by delicious restaurants, coffee, and shops. We will be staying here again.

I paid for this hotel for my sister visiting town. They had some 'virtual checkin' process that was not working and kept sending emails with new links (no less than 11 different email links). THEY LET A CRYING INFANT STAY OUTSIDE THEIR FRONT DOOR FOR 45 MINUTUES IN 50 DEGREE WEATHER WHILE THEY ARGUED ABOUT THE RIGHT WAY TO USE THEIR BROKEN VIRTUAL CHECKIN SYSTEM. If a hotel has no way to let you in when their system is not working properly, even talking to a 'supervisor', they should not be allowed to operate. Screw this place.

Really beautiful Hotel in a fun and cosy location. It takes getting used to the fact that all check in and communication is digital and automated. Didn’t see a member of staff once. But it worked and I really enjoyed my stay

We absolutely loved our stay!

I made reservations there for this month (May) so that I could attend an event being given in honor of an old friend. When I called the hotel directly after having made third-party reservations I asked the person at the front desk if I could have a quiet room. The response was one of attitude and offense that I should ask such a question. After a short, defensive, slightly heated discussion that proved useless, I canceled my reservations. I'm too old to put up with that kind of crap!

Great place to stay, close to everything, clean and modern

Awesome place - butique style and nice design, great cocktail bar downstairs as well as a rooftop terrace with amazing views of SF. Location is right in the middle of Castro, the only hotel there!

Wonderful San Fran Stay. Likes: We loved pretty much everything, especially sleeping with Freddy Mercury and the location was top notch. The beds were fabulously comfortable. The response to my call regarding the elevator breakdown was very rapid and the CV of communication by email was excellent. These things happen so we don't blame the hotel one bit. Unlike previous guests on the second floor, we had no noise nuisance issues from the Lobby Bar below. Dislikes: There was only one chair in the room. We used the patio chair which we brought inside. The corner of the room with the table could have done with a lamp of some description. The toilet roll holder in the bathroom was not secured to the wall. When the elevator was out of service , there was no way of re-entering the building via the fire escape as the fire door on the first floor requires a key. I had to wedge the fire doors open using towels from the room. It would have been great to have a soap dispenser next to the sink in the bedroom instead of having to use soap from the shower.

Overpriced, not a hotel Likes: The location it great. Dislikes: This is not a hotel, the standard, facilities and service are about 3 star. At over $1000 for two nights it is not acceptable. I submitted my complaint directly to Kasa who manages the service and received a partial refund which was not acceptable given the numerous issues I had.

Small and cozy. Right in the heart of Castro. Seamless check in and access.
