I booked the hotel for a few days, but due to an unexpected change in family circumstance I had to cancel the reservation a few weeks out. Guess what? They would not refund the money. What a terrible operation. I will never stay at a Kasa hotel, and I will strongly advise others to avoid them as well. Trash company. EDIT: Just so everyone understands, they are LYING in their response to this message. I personally reached out to them following this response and they again refused to refund, citing that the booking was non-refundable. Folks, that is NOT flexibility. It is complete INFLEXIBILITY and INDIFFERENCE to their customers. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS DISHONEST, HEARTLESS COMPANY.

I stay here all the time and it’s always great. This particular room however it’s the best and just had some issues. The lighting was very dark compared to other rooms. The tv was hanging off the wall but facing downwards instead of mounted. One of the outlets was competed exposed with the cover hanging off. It had a smell. It just wasn’t to their usual standard so I was bummed about that when I reached out to Kasa, they responded but didn’t do anything. It would’ve taken 5min to just move me to another room. I normally give the best review and I especially love the people who manage the building during the day. This is solely about my disappointment at the corporate level.

Good location but parking is difficult. We actually got a ticket for backing into a parking space which we didn’t know was something we should not do in PA. Cute rooms but bathroom floor was extremely slippery. We still enjoyed our stay.

No restaurant, bar or official front desk which gives it a kind of ghostlike feel but our room was clean, spacious and very quiet. The woman on premise who helped us check in was very friendly and helpful. Location is great with lots of restaurants and coffee shops on S Highland and Walnut Street just a hop, skip and a jump away. I’d definitely stay here again especially after they finish putting in the bar and restaurant. As an aside, the church next door is incredibly beautiful

All in all a great stay. The concierge was great. We will definitely stay here again! Likes: Property was clean and the room had a great vibe and had everything we needed. Good location. Dislikes: The only concern was that the bathroom floor was super slippery. The other couple we were traveling with did not experience the same so perhaps it was just that room.

I loved my stay at The Maverick in Pittsburgh! It is close to Margaux where I go for morning coffee and toast or croissant. The building was clean and secure and Caroline was a cheery, helpful, lovely human. My room had a clawfoot tub, a selection of teas and coffee, lots of sunlight and a view of a beautiful old church! Whole Foods was a block away, as was Mola, great for Japanese Food and Sushi, and Duos is right around the corner with great margs, mole, guac, and tacos! I’ll be back! 🤍

Building is fantastic. Parking was a concern, but turned out to be easy and convenient. Everything was very clean. One piece of advice - if you are of advanced years and have any difficulty getting in and out of very short beds, maybe get a different hotel.

We had a fantastic stay at The Maverick. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and filled with natural light, making for a comfortable and relaxing experience. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was attentive and proactive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Tried canceling reservation due to emergency so I was unable to get to hotel. Offered to provide proof of the emergency. They refused to cancel my reservation or refund me, so I paid $200 for nothing. Beware of their ridiculous cancelation policies.

We enjoyed our stay! The hotel and room were unique. We had no trouble with the contactless check-in. The room had everything that we needed including complimentary coffee. The only recommendation that we have is that the TV cables were quite messy behind the TV and could be hidden better and the bathroom sink had an extra hole in the tile where it looks like they tried to originally hook it up. These are just little finishing touches that would make it more high-end.

This is a great hotel. So interesting and beautifully restored - it’s a former YMCA. Love the stylish decor. I got in at night and sit was a little strange to check in with the contactless system - there were literally no staff around- but the online check in contact was very helpful and everything worked out great. And there are people around during the daytime hours. I really enjoyed my stay here!

Only place to stay! Beautiful rooms and building, easy access to everything, walkable and has everything we need when we travel to Pittsburgh! We visit our son every other month or and check in easily and having all the comforts makes our stay extra enjoyable. We’ve been coming to town for 7 years and since discovering the Maverick an about a year ago this is where we always stay. I highly recommend the rooms with the claw foot tub. And Caroline is the best at welcoming and making everything special. Thank you!

Su Kasa Mi Kasa We stayed for a weekend in March 2025. Our second trip, and will stay again. Reasonably priced and great location in East Liberty across from the landmark Presbyterian Church. On-street parking. Walking distance from Shadyside. Very clean rooms, huge windows. Recommend 5th floor for best views. 7 room configurations, some really large corner rooms, interior rooms are much smaller, go with your budget. Comfy mattress and sheets. Lovely retro bathroom fixtures and tile, but the bathtub is slippery! Nice snacks and coffee/tea bar in room, but few other amenities. Within 1-2 blocks, great Square Cafe (Belgian waffle!), Lorelai and Kelly's for light food and lively cocktails, young crowd, and the amazing Commerce Bar speakeasy (good luck finding it). Target and other shops 2-3 blocks walk. Oh, and the Hotel bar expected to open in June. Great weekend deal.

Likes: The room is clean, quiet, and spacious enough. Near Target and lots of coffee/restaurants. Dislikes: The room is, a little too dark. It is not suitable if you need to do work. It is hard to communicate with staff. They write they're 24/7 available, but, reply will be 1-2 days. There is not enough explanation on how/where to get stuff. I need to ask them where can I get toothbrush and reply came the next day. Asking receipt also took long time, I haven't received mine until now.

Great hotel!! We really enjoyed staying at The Maverick by Kasa. It was such a cool atmosphere, easy self check-in, and trendy. Our room was just as pictured and super cute! We also loved that there was free overnight parking on the weekend (and cheap price throughout the day). Would definitely go back!

This was my first time staying in an "apart-hotel." Check-in was really easy, the "Virtual Front Desk" was highly responsive, and I didn't really have any issues from a logistical standpoint. The Maverick's biggest advantage is its location — you really shouldn't need a rental car if you stay here. East Liberty Station on the MLK East Busway is only a couple blocks away, meaning you can get to downtown from the hotel faster (and cheaper) by transit than you can via Uber! Several other bus lines converge on the area as well. I also took advantage of local bars, restaurants, and coffee shops in walking distance (make sure you swing by LV. Coffee Project in the morning!). That said, don't expect a normal hotel experience if you stay here. The lobby is quite nice, but there's a vacant and almost eerie feel to it when you enter due to the lack of staff. That's probably my only critique. You do receive a code to enter the building, so it doesn't feel unsafe in spite of this.

I was having surgery at UPMC Shadyside the next morning. It was a wonderful surprise to find a place that was close, clean, and quiet. All the little extra touches like herbal tea, snacks, window seat etc. made it a relaxing stay in a stressful time. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Beautifully renovated historic building in one of the best locations in Pittsburg with some many great restaurants and things to do. The room we stayed in was awesome with huge windows and amazing views. The room felt like a suite, as it was large and spacious and appointed in a modern, classy design and furniture. It was like staying in a room one would only see in Architectural Design. We cannot wait to come back.

Great central location for all kinds of food, however I wish the bar was open. I actually only been here one other time when there was a rave in the gymnasium lol so it was cool to see it in the daytime as a hotel. Front desk(and manager?) isn't always present but when she is there she's very nice. Our bed was pretty low down to the ground, so that may be an issue for some people. I also wish the TVs were more updated. Ours kept dimming, like a phone, for some reason?

Absolutely love my stay! The room was just like the picture and clean. The room was so cute and had a view of the church right in front of the hotel. Anytime I texted with a question the response was basically immediate. The location was amazing. Right around the corner from Garbarino’s which is an amazing Italian restaurant with a nice bar. Would recommend to anyone!

Cool building in a convenient area Will gladly stay here again! The building is a very cool historical building, the room was comfy and clean. There is only one staff member during the day and no staff at night; pretty much all your interactions will be virtual and that process is intuitive and easy. The staff member was super friendly and helpful, and you just can't beat the location.

We stayed at the Maverick in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood while in town for business. It was conveniently located near lots of food, coffee and shopping. The Tamello & Beatty lot is an inexpensive parking lot right behind the hotel where you can pay by phone and only pay 8am to 10pm. The digital access system for the front door and room was excellent; easy access for both of us without any keys to fumble with or lose. The lobby was very pretty and comfortable for morning coffee and an impromptu business meeting. Our room was clean, really comfortable and just the right size. There was tea and coffee, water and a couple cookies waiting for us. Very hospitable. Although we didn't use it, there was a printer available on the 5th floor. Even the pricing was great. We hope business will be bringing us back more often and if/when it does, the Maverick is where we’ll stay.

Beautifully renovated historic building in one of the best locations in Pittsburg with some many great restaurants and things to do. The room we stayed in was awesome with huge windows and amazing views. The room felt like a suite, as it was large and spacious and appointed in a modern, classy design and furniture. It was like staying in a room one would only see in Architectural Design. We cannot wait to come back.

Great central location for all kinds of food, however I wish the bar was open. I actually only been here one other time when there was a rave in the gymnasium lol so it was cool to see it in the daytime as a hotel. Front desk(and manager?) isn't always present but when she is there she's very nice. Our bed was pretty low down to the ground, so that may be an issue for some people. I also wish the TVs were more updated. Ours kept dimming, like a phone, for some reason?

Absolutely love my stay! The room was just like the picture and clean. The room was so cute and had a view of the church right in front of the hotel. Anytime I texted with a question the response was basically immediate. The location was amazing. Right around the corner from Garbarino’s which is an amazing Italian restaurant with a nice bar. Would recommend to anyone!

So easy to check in a get to your room by just using your phone. No hassle at the front desk or having to get key cards. Very nice and clean room. Comfortable bed and pillows. We had a lovely stay.

Cool building in a convenient area Will gladly stay here again! The building is a very cool historical building, the room was comfy and clean. There is only one staff member during the day and no staff at night; pretty much all your interactions will be virtual and that process is intuitive and easy. The staff member was super friendly and helpful, and you just can't beat the location.

We stayed at the Maverick in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood while in town for business. It was conveniently located near lots of food, coffee and shopping. The Tamello & Beatty lot is an inexpensive parking lot right behind the hotel where you can pay by phone and only pay 8am to 10pm. The digital access system for the front door and room was excellent; easy access for both of us without any keys to fumble with or lose. The lobby was very pretty and comfortable for morning coffee and an impromptu business meeting. Our room was clean, really comfortable and just the right size. There was tea and coffee, water and a couple cookies waiting for us. Very hospitable. Although we didn't use it, there was a printer available on the 5th floor. Even the pricing was great. We hope business will be bringing us back more often and if/when it does, the Maverick is where we’ll stay.
