Couple of things I wish I thought of / knew about before booking:
1. Dog friendly rental meant there was unfortunately still lots of dog (or possibly cat) dander and hair in the room, on the linens, and also on the floor. The current cleaning protocol is insufficient as there are visible clumps of animal fur still on the floor. Sleeping in the bed at night triggered allergies, and was quite unpleasant.
2. The bed was not comfy. It’s one of those “bed in a box” type of thin memory foam mattresses from Nectar or similar brand. The pillows are thin and not supportive, so expect shoulder pain. If you’re a light sleeper you might prefer a hotel.
3. There are no blackout curtains and the sun comes up early. Pack an eye mask if you plan to stay here and want to sleep in past sunrise.
4. Furnishings are minimal at best. Example:
There’s a very small “pull out” sofa in the living room, which does not look comfortable to sleep on. Might work better for children than adults to use it at night. Factor this if you’re planning to stay longer than a couple of nights.
Overall Kasa is conveniently located near Union Station, has great amenities and is a decent price compared to a hotel. The help service is reliable, and communicative. However, the pet dander is really an issue so awarding a lower issue because of this. Note- we only stayed 2 nights and therefore did not report this issue directly because it was only the second night we realized what was causing the allergies.
