Bad outweighs the good; good location and size, but absolutely filthy and worn out. Avoid if you can.
The size of the unit was good, it allowed us to feel like we weren’t jammed on top of each other, which was a major reason we chose this place in conjunction with its location, it afforded us easy access to things we wanted to teach our 7 year old son.
The bad was really bad. The unit was filthy. Conservatively speaking, more than 80% of the kitchenware required us to wash it because of visible filth. The bathroom had black mold, there was human hair all over the subway tiles. The floors were coated with crap, almost like nothing was swept or vacuumed. We had to wear slippers that we’d leave next to the bed when we entered/left it, simply to keep the crap out of the bed. We are a neat family, by no means “clean freaks” but we didn’t feel settled at any time during this stay, from the moment we arrived due to the sheer filth accumulated in the unit - disappointing since this was a vacation. Since we spent the majority of the time doing educational things for my son around Manhattan, we were not in the unit long enough where any of this would have been satisfactorily resolved - and we don’t allow access while we’re out.
It’s obvious the unit was originally renovated to provide a nice, modern environment, but it appears that management has focused on high volume, high turnover stays and has failed to do basic things to adequately maintain those original investments. We saw the photos and reviews before making the reservation, but so much is lost between the lines, it almost feels like a bait and switch. Not sure how we’d be the exception, it’s obvious that there’s a lack of care and accountability that wouldn’t be isolated to one unit.
The WiFi is completely public and open. I could see and access other peoples MacBooks over the network.
I would not stay here again. I feel like I was taken; I should be the one billing mint house for having to clean up after former guests. I’d prefer a smaller, more maintained place at this price point
