This hotel is considered a 4-star hotel online, but my experience was far from it.
TLDR; A hotel is supposed to be convenient. There was nothing about this hotel that was convenient except for its location. You check yourself in with an inefficient and essentially useless self check-in process, and you struggle to find DTLA street parking yourself since there is no parking lot or valet service. I would never recommend this stay to a friend.

Check-in is done through an online self check-in process that had so many glitches that it was impossible to complete check-in on our own. We couldn't ask the front desk for help because we were stuck outside the hotel at midnight trying to check in. The entrance to the hotel was locked, the front desk is off to the side where they don't have a clear view of the door, and no guests were entering or exiting due to how late it was.
We were struggling because of a glitch with the system. We needed to enter a reservation code in order to check-in, but the code we were provided upon reservation was not working. We had to call their phone service for help, and the concierge admitted that several other guests had the same problem we did, and that we were being provided the wrong code. The concierge eventually helped give us a new code to use, but this was whole process was tiring and stressful at the end of a long travel day. This completely negated the "self" aspect of the self check-in process.
Once we were able to get inside, someone was at the front desk but didn't even acknowledge us when we struggled through the heavy, non-automatic front doors with our luggage. Since we had to check ourselves in and help ourselves through the door, I have to ask- what is their front desk for? How is this any different self-navigating through an Airbnb?
The rooms are interesting. If their interior designer was going for an avant garde horror-movie inspired theme a la the Saw franchise... they nailed it.
I appreciate the hotel's proximity to Grand Central Market and DTLA attractions in general. I understand the cons that accompany the pros of being downtown and would have been happy to overlook it, had the inconveniences we experienced not overshadowed our stay.
