Good and pretty place We really liked the value / price relation ($98 each night). The place is really pretty and comfy, in a really good area with stores, public transport, etc. The only big problem is the noise from the street, it can really loud, also there’s no front desk.

Would not give me a refund, wife was sick and gave them a months notice and still wouldn't give back any of my money

Value for Money Really enjoyed my 4 night stay at The Baker. Checking in with the app was easy and convenient, the property felt secure and everything about the room was really high quality for the cost of the stay, especially for peak season in a great location! Only issue would be that the blinds aren’t blackout and the road can be quite loud, but nothing that can’t be sorted by a $5 eye mask and ear plugs were provided if necessary. Would definitely recommend for a solo stay!

The great California rip off!! We tried to Cancel and expected to get charged for one night and they charged us for 5. Then they keep sending automated messages “how was your stay” they just keep pouring salt into the wound! The ppl that were nice acting like they would help but could not. Don’t stay here if you have an emergency or plans have to be changed even with a 3 day notice!

Excelente lugar El cuarto es pequeño, pero muy bonito, la cama súper cómoda y la habitación cuenta con todos los servicios, el acceso automatizado es excelente, te mandan todos los pasos a seguir y no ocupas absolutamente nada más. Definitivamente regresaremos. Nota: la zona es un poco ruidosa por la noche, pero nada del otro mundo

The noise was just ridiculous. Road noise was louder than NASCAR at times. Heard folks in the next room as if they were in mine. Can’t recommend this.

I didnt feel safe where theocatiin was, the fact there was no one onsite, no parking nearer than 1/4 to 1/2 mile. I experienced a panic attack reached iut to expedua abd the cincierge on the phone. I had to leave immediately.

Room size too small

I booked through Expedia to find a hotel near my conference. I put in the Address and this is what came up in my price range. I get there and it is downtown San Diego. It is not apparent that the Baker is the hotel you go to I reached out to the concierge service. They told me what to look for and that there is no onsite parking. They sent me the app to find parking. The Baker looks clean and renovated, but the nearest parking is about 1/4 to a 1/2 mile away. I scrambled down the street with my luggage to get to the hotel. Generally no staff on hand. Too many homeless in that area for me to feel completely safe. It was more concentrated right there than where I am normally. I got into the baker by calling the concierge to get door code to enter. I got up to my room and it was smaller than the way the room picture was reflecting. Not even a place for me to work. I got a bad feeling and had a oanic attack. I reached out to the concierge again and even to Expedia. I explained my situation and how unsafe and panicked I was feeling and advised I needed to go somewhere else. Both sounded ile that wouldn't be a problem and I Said that I would gladly pay for the night and even the next day if I had to, but I couldn't stay. Again, I thought I would be refunded for the remainder of the week. Apparently they don't think someone's safety or health issue is important. I am Fighting both Expedia and the Sonder Hotel chain at this point.

It is in a great location. Check in was a challenge, room a bit small, and shower didn't quite work right. Only the handle sprayer worked.

Great hotel if you just going sleep here...the room I had was just enough room for one person and too go to bed

Good It was a beautiful place. Good area to walk to alot of fun things. Room was cozy and clean. Rooftop was cute. Workers we very kind and helpful. Only thing was the night noise holy smokes it's insanely high how bad ot was got a noise machine and that kind of helped. People next us to us partied all night.

Quaint & Inexpensive in San Diego! GREAT little beautique hotel for much lower cost than any other hotel I've seen in San Diego! Parking is a challenge or expensive, no matter where u stay! This place is a find! It's all you need for a night for a single or couple people. Full bed in the corner, against the window. A/C. TV to stream your own subscriptions with a setting to shut it down at check out. Great roof top sitting area. Thanks Sonder!!

The Concierge, the VIBE, the LOCATION When we arrived, everything was seamless. Our room was very comfortable and as described. We found it a fantastic concept and size for a weekend trip to San Diego as a couple. The finishes and amenities were well thought out, and I expected nothing more during my stay. It had a vintage hostel feel, and then the rooftop gave the best views we experienced in all of our stays. We also stayed at another Sonder before checking into this one. Susie was there while we visited and was a dream host. She shared local spots for food and engaged in conversation with us. She accommodated us in any way possible during our exit. I love the baggage storage with a lock feature; it was perfect for when we checked out and wanted to roam a bit more before heading to the airport. I like how quaint this concept is, and the location is next to none. We walked all up and down banker's hill and much more without sweat or stress. I say check it out!

Great Room - Not So Great Noise Everything was great about the stay except the noise- traffic, music, people walking by. At times, I felt it wasn't private. I had to put ear plugs but even then I couldn't sleep due to the noise until late in the early morning hours. Checking in online was different but easy. I would recommend adding to the check in process that there will be no one onsite for questions. As myself and a few other people I encountered were a bit confused about the process.

The location was fantastic, we walked everywhere. Went to a game at Petco Park and was only a few blocks away. Hotel was cute. No parking but parking structures every.

We loved the location, walking to everything we might like to do. The lights just outside kept us awake most of the nights. Would be awesome to have shades behind the blinds. We tried to light the rooftop fireplace but couldn’t get it working. We’d stay at another Sonder.

This place is ok. I had an upgraded room, so it was a bit bigger than their normal rooms. Space wasn’t an issue for me. The beds were comfortable, but we found some small blood stains on the sheets, the duvet cover had several large holes in it, but that wasn’t really a problem because the blankets were nice and warm. Another big problem was the street noise. The thin windows make it sound like the crackheads on the street are actually inside your room. Definitely the worst part of the room was the bathroom. The bathroom door slides and leaves a gap which allows you to watch someone on the toilet from other side of the door. The floor tiled with these mini tiles that were super dirty. The bathroom floor and shower were disgusting. The shower has NO DOOR! It’s just open lots of water splashes out which makes the floor even more vile. The shower drain and head were also disgusting.

Super tiny rooms Dont expect anything but a bed AND a bathroom, that literally the only thing youll get. The hotel Is ok, although there is no lobby and you have yo do everything.through an app (a couple of data before)

The noise outside. Oh my god. Please get sound-proofing. I have had to sleep in sections because of the amount of noise outside. Even with earplugs it isn't enough. Also, please get curtains for these rooms. The streetlights and car lights come in so brightly, it's ridiculous.

This place was terrible. Service and cleanliness were fine, but the room had no soundproofing. It was Iike I was sleeping on the highway. The lights from the streetlamps also seemed to blare directly into the room. So it was insanely loud and bright the entire night. I could've gotten better sleep at a Best Western for half the price.

Smaller than it looks online. Super noisy. No space for cloths or drawers. Would not stay here again

over priced, would not stay again. do not recommend I was there for just one day one night, but regret wasting time and energy and money on this. There maybe better locations it has in other cities, but the one in San Diego is not worth it. The neighborhood is not great. also the forceful use of tech to complete check in, when it could be otherwise easily done in person was time consuming and a turn off.

The rooms are ridiculously small. Two persons with a suitcase makes it impossible to move around. By European standards it’s a room and bathroom of 9m2 total. Someone has to sleep in the corner with no charging options. The bathroom door is a moving mirror, which doesn’t even close. Booked it through booking.com, but still needed to download the app, upload my id and another thousand steps, which ended up being a huge time consuming nonsense. Final drop in the bucket is that the front door code stopped working during our stay. The bed is more of futon than a bed, so I’m very confused about fellow travellers who have found it comfortable. The only good thing is the shower.

Rubbish concept Room too small, no match with photos published in booking.com (no natural light) with no place to store clothes, uncomfortable bed, no cleaning concept (only on demand), terrible experience. Never again.

Nice concept, and very nicely decor. Service was good and communication was flawless. Walls were a bit thin so not a quiet place.

Rooms are nice and fairly modern! Ours was on the small side but was literally the smallest room on the second floor, and since we were using it as a base-camp for exploring, we didn't mind at all. The bathroom was spacious and the rainshower fixture was a good touch. Will echo the noise comments, but it's no different than living in a boisterous apartment complex. The white noise machine helped a lot. Loved the no contact check-in, and the codes for the doors were reliable.

The perfect place to stay while exploring the city. Wonderful accomodations and none of the extra unnecessary stuff. Will definitely be keeping Sonder in mind for future traveling.

Great for millennials desiring minimal human contact an no real services....ugh 1) miniature room; 2) expensive for what you get; 3) bad room and washroom design; 4) you have to provide your own streaming/TV service or get canned old news; 5) inexplicably no cups/glasses; you need to drink out of your cupped hands; 6) check-in is way late, and app did not work to change; no amenities of any use (coffee, etc.); the place is a joke.
