8/10 Very good
First, let me say that I'm glad I stayed here. This isn't a big corporate hotel, it's a fairly small place with a ton of New Orleans character. And the location could not be better: a short walk to the French Market and Jackson Square and the French Quarter.
There are a bunch of restaurants and clubs right down the street, so you might hear noise and music all night long, but in my room, at least, I really couldn't hear it.
The room was pretty small, but comfortable, though I really could have used more desk space. There was a dark closet with no light in it (not even a fixture) and the bathroom was the tiniest I've seen outside of Japan, though very tastefully decked out.
One word of warning: this is an old building with steep narrow stairs and no ramps, so if you have mobility issues (particularly if you use a wheelchair) this is almost certainly NOT a good option for you.
There were some quirks, of course: the hot water in the sink seemed to only work sometimes (the shower was fine), I had to hold the curtain in place with my umbrella to keep the HVAC unit from blowing them wide open (my room was one that pretty much everyone in the hotel had to pass going in and out) and the free WiFi timed out seemingly at random every day.
This is NOT a luxury hotel, but it does feel very New Orleans and it's character and location made it a great place to stay for exploring the Crescent City.
