OLD AND MOLDY
The boyfriend and I are both government employees and were here for business and pleasure. We booked a 5-day stay after it's 4-star rating but we were VERY disappointed. As a time reference, we arrived on Monday, March 9 when there were ZERO cases of coronavirus BUT we were cautious and vigilant still with our health and safety. We arrived at the hotel on Monday at 5 pm (3/9/2020). We should have canceled our 5 days stay with this place but we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We knew things were off to a BAD start:
--- The person running the front desk was rude and very negative.
--- Waiting in line, she was helping a customer who was in front of us and she kept saying “oh my god this is the worst day of my life. I hate today. Oh my god stop calling.”
--- Second, in the midst of all this Coronavirus concern, it did NOT sit well with us when she coughed all over the computer and desk without covering or use a Kleenex
--- There was NO hand sanitizer anywhere.
--- We asked if her if we could have a particular room/location, in which she responded with “good luck with that” and laughed at us.
--- She gave us a choice of a view to the federal building or the parking lot. We asked her which she thought was best. Her response “hell I don’t know. I only see this front desk and I leave. I have never seen either view”.
I think some customer service retraining is in order.
Moving forward, upon entering our room 303. We were greatly disappointed. The mirrors had hand smears all over. And it appears as if someone sneezed all over it and the maid service never bothered to clean it.
List of things that were wrong:
Moldy tub
rusty metal
paint flaking off everywhere
closet mirror look like someone sneezed all over it and never got cleaned
the tub drips nonstop
the windows have peeling paint and Rusty parts
Faucet sink is coming off
showerhead is falling apart
toilet is missing parts from the back
the toilet is discolored and stained
Bathroom lights don’t work well it stay on properly
Ac / heating unit malfunctions
Maid did not give us coffee or toiletries when cleaning the room
TV doesn’t work well - channels kept saying offline
wall outlets are not functioning properly
there were chewed up candy that were stuck to the carpet
Coffee machine was very dirty inside-mold
I have been coming to NOLA for 25 years and have stayed in many places. This was rated 4 stars and has been my worst experience by far. The maid came to "clean" the room and ignored the mirrors again so I cleaned them myself and wiped down everything. If I knew I was cleaning my own hotel stay, I would have just stayed home. Sheesh.
By the evening of our 2nd day (Tuesday) I emailed the manager. I did not get an email reply but on Wednesday afternoon, he called my boyfriend's cell phone and acknowledged that the hotel is under renovations and is aware of the conditions of the rooms. Some rooms have been remodeled while majority have not. He offered to move us to another room but said he "couldn't promise the conditions would be any better". He then offered a refund of one night which we appreciated, he had housekeeping send us a new coffee maker but was pointless since they NEVER restocked the coffee supply until I called each day for them. He sent maintenance to fix what was on the list but we found after they worked on it while we left for an hour... same issues were still there. We also noticed that after my email, a GIANT bottle of hand sanitizer was visible at the front reception desk. Good job! On Thursday, we saw that original front desk person who checked us in outside next to the valet stand chatting up with the valet guy and overheard her say "I don't care if they like what I say or not, it's not like they can fire me so I'll say what I want when I want." Hmmm........ By Friday, when the coronavirus cases have spiked to 62 cases, we packed up and were ready to leave NOLA.
