It's (sometimes) cheap for a reason...
These rooms are (sometimes) cheap for a reason -- you are basically staying at an elevated hostel with private rooms. So long as you set expectations, it's workable. I did not appreciate the management trying to rip me off when I requested a microwave for my room. They wanted to charge more than the cost of my stay for it. I did not appreciate others stealing the groceries that I had bagged and labeled. I did not appreciate the dingy rooms that were poorly cleaned, with someone's used hand towel drying on the shower curtain. I did not appreciate the ever-present smell of weed. There is officially a no smoking or vaping policy, but as there is no real staff here, it always reeks of weed. I have stayed at far more budget hostels and did not have food stolen. Must be all the hungry stoners. There is no onsite management, so if something goes awry, you are SOL. For accommodations at this price point, I would rather pay a little more and stay at a motel with good amenities. Or spend a little less and stay at a well-staffed hostel.
