Not Your Typical 3-Star Experience
We stayed at Maverick by Casa this weekend, and while the concept may appeal to tech-savvy travelers, it left much to be desired in terms of comfort and practicality.
- Check-in via text felt inaccessible for older guests, and the quirky “high five” gesture to unlock the room was more confusing than clever.
- The bathroom doors don’t fully close or lock, and if closed too forcefully, they pose a real risk to fingers—especially for children, who may struggle with the heavy door.
- The bathtub mixer required near-surgical precision to avoid either scalding or freezing water.
- We encountered a leaky toilet, with water pooling from the base, and the bathroom light only worked when the main room lights were on—an odd and inconvenient setup.
- One side of the bed was flush against the wall, meaning one person had to climb out from the foot of the bed—not ideal for couples or older guests.
While the hotel may technically meet some criteria for a 3-star rating, the overall experience felt more experimental than comfortable. Perhaps this is the direction hospitality is heading—but it’s not quite there yet.
