Full of character, this former YMCA turned hotel was a comfortable spot for a recent work trip. Conveniently located with easy access to transit, a walkable neighborhood, and parking (there’s a surface lot and a garage nearby), I’d highly recommend. The staff was easy to get a hold of via text and the check in/out process was easy and seamless.

Well, horrible administrative service in invoicing process Likes: The place was good as the price /value offers you. Dislikes: I'm struggling with getting an invoice, they send me to booking.com and booking.com send me to maverick to get an invoice, and you know when you travel for work you will need an invoice not only the reservation mail and I requested at the beginning of the service.

This is an interesting idea. Once an old YMCA school. Some of has been remodeled and some, like the gymnasium is original. There is a restaurant when you enter, we did not eat there but it was extremely loud. Parking is a NIGHTMARE!! So be prepared to circle. It is also not staffed 24/7. When we arrived a nice gentleman greeted us and was very helpful. The room was not what you expect when you stay at a hotel. Reminded me of a college dorm or first studio apartment. The bed is a platform bed so it is basically on the floor with a walk area beside or maybe a strange side table area. The TV is very small. The bathroom was spacious for the size of the room. Plenty of towels, and just down the hall near the ice maker there is a closet if you need an extra towel. This is a nice touch. So for me it is a solid 3 experience. The mattress was firm if that is something you like. The room was very clean. It does have a fridge and microwave. There were not enough electrical outlets. A pain for charging devices. Walls a thin. We could hear conversation and also doors opening and closing. Elevator takes forever.

The room is spacious and the bed is comfy. The hall way and the lobby are stylish. The hotel has no concierge so they try to check you in online and keep asking you how’s everything by text messages. For me it’s a bit annoying. There’s no parking lot around only street parking but easy enough to for spots. Right across from a church. And nearby university. Very quiet neighborhood. I think I will go back.

We had an early morning appointment at Presby and decided to spend the night rather than driving 2 hours to get there. The location of this place is wonderful! It’s a 15-20 minute drive to the Oakland hospitals, conveniently located near Target, and has lots of dining options nearby. We parked in a nearby lot and walked around the corner to the hotel. Check in was easy, no issues with that. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We absolutely loved the decor. Extra linens and a concierge closet we provided as well. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion so we didn’t need to bring those things along with us. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Maverick. It was a unique building with unique rooms. It felt so much more comfortable than a normal hotel room. And the location was great. It was within walking distance to the school I am attending, and was so close to so many different food options. We're definitely staying here again on our next Pittsburgh trip.

The check in was easy. .My room in the old YMCA was unique, very comfortable, and very clean, with an amazing view. The newly opened bar at the entrance was great! I only had a couple of problems. The light over the sink in the bathroon is inadequate, and the wonderful huge window in the third floor room needed washed bad. Overall I had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

This place is consistently the best value in the area with the cleanest rooms I’ve found. While there’s no front desk, the staff is responsive and quick to help with any issues. I always check for availability here first before considering other options. It’s conveniently located near plenty of restaurants and grocery stores, and they recently added a restaurant and bar on the main level. Parking is easy—there’s a side lot that’s free from 6 PM to 8 AM and paid during the day. I’ve stayed here four times and never had a problem with parking or anything else.

Not a great experience! Spent hours on the phone trying to get all of my four rooms secured through their virtual check-in. Had to scan the state issued ID's of all of my travel group and add in credit card information all so they don't have to pay for a receptionist to help get you into their hotel. I will never sign up for this process again and recommend no one to use Kasa if they appreciate their time and patience.

The no-staff concept is a bit distopian, but the do-it-yourself tablet check-in worked well enough. The building and room had character. The bar/restaurant was not operating so i can't comment on that. They were shooting a movie there so the front door was jard to find let alone access. Interesting place but I probably wouldn't do a repeat visit.

I’ve visited Pittsburgh many times and have had my fair share of lousy stays but this will definitely be my go to hotel from now on when I visit. Parking was on the street but very inexpensive and I was not paying a 20 dollar added room charge as many hotels out there do charge. This place was well worth the price which was cheaper than many many others.
