Where do I begin? No dedicated parking nearby. No hospitality greeter. The check-in is messy, requiring that the guest find some place to manipulate ID uploads and selfie, which was made more frustrating because the photo verification was rejected several times ( “turn a little right, a little left, center, come closer, back up, now snap”. “Nah, that didn’t work. Try again”). The room looks like it belongs in an ambitious halfway house. Not much has changed since its former life as a YMCA. Wanted an extra blanket, but no one here to provide it. It has been 24 hrs since my text message request for a blanket. Still no blanket as promised. There was a no-hot water scare after letting the faucet run for 5 mins, but I was advised via text to let it run longer. So, 10 mins. That did finally work. This morning I was eager to enjoy Pitt, my first time. I was first met with an utterly shutdown lobby. Dark and depressing. Not a soul in sight. The room cost nearly $300/ night. Really? Is it too much to ask for a human touch? Hospitality? A bit more assistance on site? My recommendation: RUN‼️ Edit: It’s now 4 am. The alarm is blaring. All guests are outside. Fire trucks have arrived. And we all KNOW this is a false alarm.
