I did not actually stay at the property, I chose to cancel. Buried in the small print there is a warning that check in is 'different', there is no front desk they request on-line check in. When I followed the links to complete this process it became clear that they expected me to provide on line, a selfie, a picture of my ID, complete credit card details (even though the trip was fully paid already) I chose not to follow this path, especially as the site made it clear that had rights to use my information.

Everything was just as described. Nice location, will book again in the future.

Weekend leisure trip. Loved the location for walking to good food and coffee. Likes: Great location, clean, spacious and comfortable. Dislikes: Street parking was the only option.

We stayed two nights and appreciated the smarlty designed tiny room that didn't feel like you were in a tiny room. The neighborhood has a ton of food options within walking distance and driving to other neighborhoods was incredibly easy.

Charming, comfortable, with great features. Great atmosphere in the room. Warm feeling. Spacious. Bright. Equipped with nice amenities. Excellent quality for the shampoo and conditioner. Tasty welcoming cookies. Charming and yet practical. The bed is very comfortable. Suitable for both family or business.

First time experience = Great! This was a brand new experience for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. My check-in information was sent to me several hours ahead. The room was big and very comfortable. City sounds could be heard overnight (sirens, trucks, etc.). I’m an original city girl, so it didn’t impact my sleep at all. Street parking can be a bit limited, but I had parking directly across the street. Parking is free after 6pm until 8am the next morning (Sundays are free). I used the ParkMobile app to feed the meter. I didn’t know about providing my car information ahead of time to secure parking in a parking lot, but the street parking worked for me. Nice little touches like cookies and water are awaiting your stay as well as 2 chips to use for a drink at the bar downstairs. The only minor complaint that I had was the inability to watch the TV. I couldn’t get Netflix to cast to the TV, but that may have just been user error. I would make a small suggestion to have some disposable utensils on hand. This was a great location to get back and forth to CMU, while visiting my son. Lots of places to eat within walking distance or a short drive. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for my needs Great room. I love the big windows. Also, thanks for the water and cookies! Street parking is perfect for me — free after 6. Finally walked around the area a bit and found some nice food spots. As a Chatham University grad student this place is perfect for when I stay the night. I commute from the Youngstown, OH area and plan to keep staying here once a week until the end of the semester. Thanks!

super nice stay. definitely will return and recommend to friends and families Likes: location is excellent. room is very comfortable with plenty of sitting setup and huge windows with views, which is really nice. I requested early check in and it was honored. which really made a difference to my experience. Dislikes: the safe is the room is locked when I checked in.

This was a beautiful hotel not too far from downtown Pittsburgh! Easy access to get in, good around the corner, and if you choose, public transportation nearby. If you are someone that likes to get around, I do recommend getting a rental as Lyft and Uber can be expensive. Other than that it's a great place to stay!

Very cool hotel lobby and guest room designs. Nice keyless entry and responsive customer service. Good street parking options. The chrome cast TV and safety lockbox were difficult to access without help. The view overlooked a library rooftop. Very walkable area. Nice amenities like a coffee bar and sitting area in the room.

Every city deserves a Kasa The Maverick in my opinion!

GREAT Experience! Great Location, extremely clean and quiet, and had the nicest little touches that made you feel like you weren't in a hotel at all. The only downside is parking. We ended up parking in a public lot and setting alerts for when we needed to pay again.

Loved the virtual check-in experience and the room was so much more than I expected for the price. The location was perfect for my needs and I would definitely stay again. My only quibble would be the bed is very low to the ground and not ideal for those with mobility issues but I believe they offer accessible rooms which I will look into for my next stay.

If I could give a 10 I would have. Totally blown away by this hotel Truly home from home and had everything we needed. Thank you for making our trip so amazing we’ll be back.

Great in every facet! Lovely room, lovely tub , great view. Great experience all around. Thanks for the free drinks tokens! Also great value too for a week’s stay. Also the bed was super comfy and big. Not your typical generic hotel.

Excellent The bed was very comfortable, and the Decor was most appealing. We loved the eclectic yet Bauhaus feel. It seems that the items were repurposed which is a great idea! Also loved the refillable soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion dispensers, huge windows, high ceilings, and overall airiness and space. Really liked the plants, but wished they were real.

So I feel compelled to already write my review despite this only being the third night of my five day stay here. I love this place! I have to come to Pittsburgh for a week once a month, so I’m always trying different hotels and I can say I thoroughly enjoy this one. It has more of a hip ‘apartment in the Village’ feel than a typical, generic hotel room. What’s more is they provide a lovely assortment of coffees, free waters, and two tokens to get two free drinks at their bar downstairs. If you do end up staying here, do yourself a favor and get the King Grand Suite, as it comes with a standalone deep bathtub along the windows to view all the city sights. I’ve been searching around for my permanent, routine hotel for a while now- I think this might be it, especially if hotel management can incentivize me to continue staying with them on a monthly basis (hint, hint, wink, wink). Again, a lovely place to stay!

1950's-themed boutique hotel in an old converted YMCA. A great find if you like offbeat places with a bit of history. Be warned that the hotel is self-check-in and as such there are no front desk staff on site. You are granted admission to the building and your room via a phone app. (I hate to imagine what happens if you lost your phone or locked it in your room.) Room is thoughtfully decorated and clean as a whistle. Things I didn't like so much: bed was as hard as a rock; thermostat in the room didn't work; bathroom light bulbs burned out mid-stay; one of the two windows opened (which I liked) but was off of its rails; you can only watch tv by streaming to the in-room set via your phone.

Very trendy and quiet The quality was exceptional and clearly stated everything to check in with Brie for the process. The prices work lowest well don’t know m and will definitely visit again. Thanks again and will tell all my friends

If you like virtual hotels, this is an excellent option in Pittsburgh. Likes: The building is a beautifully repurposed YMCA. The room was very well-designed to be both pleasant and functional. We had a view of the church across the street. The location is close to Sunnyside, a great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and interesting shops. If you don't need to be in downtown Pittsburgh, this is a very good location to use as a base to explore the city. Dislikes: I knew that this would be a virtual hotel, so I can't fault them for that. But it does feel strange to be in a hotel where you rarely see another human being, and, if you do, they are other guests, not staff. I think they shouid do something to liven up the place--perhaps having a restaurant next to the lobby. In their defense, the virtual aspect of the hotel is well-thought out. The check in instructions were clear and we got quick answers when we texted questions to the mysterious Kasa employees located in some mysterious place in the world (but just not in the hotel itself). Also in their defense--the hotel was less expensive than equivalent hotels that have full staff, so I can't complain about that either.

The hotel bar’s posted hours were inaccurate. Otherwise, great venue. Beautiful room and great location.

I loved the cool, hip vibe and the privacy. The virtual check-in was a breeze. The room was spotless and spacious, its design striking just the right balance between the traditional and the modern. I loved the nice touches, such as the gracefully shaped tea/coffee mugs, the herbal teas, the many flavors of coffee, the fluffy towels, the extremely comfortable bed, the spacious shower. One tiny shortcoming was one of the window shades not coming all the way down, but it’s really a very minor quibble. Having Whole Foods just around the corner was great. Overall, this is the best hotel in Pittsburgh I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in many. It’s also a terrific bang for the buck. I am definitely going to stay there again. Congrats to Team Kasa!

Wedding Everything was great. The totally keyless and online process was very simple. The text communication was very convenient. The rooms were very nice. The bar is great. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

New Pittsburgh hotel Renovated industrial building on edge of busy neighborhood eateries. Preregister online, entry codes via text. Attractive bar in lobby. Rooms are large, well-designed, quiet, sitting areas and kitchenette, good coffee selection and complimentary snack. Recommend highly

Wonderful Place! I really enjoyed my short stay at The Maverick Kasa! Whoever decided to take the old YMCA and turn it in to a hotel, had a great vision coupled with brilliant execution. The rooms are unique and tastefully appointed. The building is VERY quiet due in large part to the turn of the century construction. The Maverick is in walking distance to hotels and bars, parking, while not free, is convenient. My only complaint is the drive through Pittsburg, from the West Side, was a nightmare. But, hey, that’s Pittsburgh! The Maverick is a great place, with a high quality, unique experience, at a price that beats the large hotel chains. Book it if you are going to Pittsburgh!

Location was great. It's close to a few restaurants like Margaux or Urban Tap, and it's a 15 minute drive from other areas. Two poker chips in the room = two free drinks at the lively bar, and access in and out of the building was easy enough. Be warned, parking can be tricky if you're bad at finding parking but there's an entire long street at the Triangle fountain a block over to park on once you get your groove.

One my best stays yet. Exactly what I want in an Airbnb. Nice linens and bed. Fantastic location. Beautiful bathroom with a large shower. Lovely historic building.

Place was amazing

Seriously one of the best places I’ve ever stayed, the rooms are so nice and at a great price. Large and comfortable beds with a lovely shower. The bar is also excellent. My friend and I booked this place again for our return trip!

I had a great time staying at Kasa! For context, i stayed here for three months. It was perfectly fine and they put me in a top floor room. Re: some other complaints: yes there are parties downstairs once in a while but its pretty infrequent. The fully virtual desk is quite responsive and accommodating and I never hard trouble reaching them. I did have an issue with my bed having dust mites which made it quite difficult to breathe. I think the mattress needed to be changed. I fo

I’d say 3.5 out of 5. It was a good price, no fancy bells and whistles, small tv. Definitely functional though. Never got fresh towels though in the 5 days I was there.
