6/10 Rating
Edit December 12, 2022: After publishing this review and reaching out to Kasa with my issues, they were very apologetic and offered concrete steps on how to make sure that the issues that I had with the room (especially related to the loud concert) were not repeated for future guests. I hope they follow through on these steps, because then this would be a very nice place to stay. Given how responsive they were, I'm bumping my original rating from a 2 to a 3.
I scheduled this hotel for my anniversary with my partner the day after Thanksgiving. While there were parts of the experience I liked, but overall I was extremely dissatisfied with the experience and would recommend against staying here.
The Good:
-The location was very convenient for what we wanted to do (restaurants, bars, etc.)
-The building is cool and historic
-The room was relatively inexpensive (although watch out for the additional cleaning fee)
-The room is nicely appointed even though it was relatively small: the bed design was cool (it is pretty close to the floor, which should be kept in mind if you have any mobility issues), the bed was comfortable, there was a cute vintage looking radio, the tile in the shower was very cool, there was a fridge.
-The virtual check-in/check-out was smooth and easy
The Bad:
-There was an extremely loud EDM concert within the hotel building that went from 8PM to 2 AM. The bass from the concert shook my room and made it impossible for me to sleep until 2 AM. I am fine staying in a hotel with street noise (its an old building and in the city) but staying in a hotel with a concert that goes until 2 AM and shakes my room is unacceptable. KASA has a quiet policy for guests from 9 PM until 8 AM but this policy apparently does not apply to the hotel itself, which is ridiculous
-KASA only notified me about the EDM concert the day before my reservation, once it was too late to cancel. If I had known in advance, I would have reconsidered booking the room. It was very sketchy for KASA to only notify me about an event happening in the hotel once it was too late to cancel.
-The lights flickered occasionally: they stopped flickering soon after they started most of the time, but it was annoying when they kept flickering for several minutes
-The windows barely opened and had a frost on them which didn't let in much light.
-It is difficult to know if you are booking a room with a view or an interior room with frosted windows
