Ok, if you're not expecting to stay in a hotel
There is nothing in the Hotels.com listing that suggests that this is NOT a hotel room. Instead, it is a furnished apartment that they rent per night. Once you make a reservation, you have to send a photo of your ID and consent to a criminal background check! Nothing about this is listed in the Hotels.com listing. Once you arrive at the building, you figure out that this is an apartment complex in the heart of downtown Austin and not a hotel. Had they advised ahead of time that the only amenities provided are ground coffee & 2 bottles of water, I would have arranged to bring snacks & drinks with me. Once you figure out how to get in the building, the instructions to obtain a key to, and find your room, leave much to be desired. If you like geocaching or treasure hunts, this is the place for you. We arrived at 10 p.m., tired and hungry. It was not the time for learning a new skill set to figure out how to get to our room. We went to bed hungry and left hungry the next morning. The neighborhood is inner city, so we didn't venture out at that hour in search for food. The apartment is comfortable, though not cozy. Sort of hipster. So, there is no service of any kind. No front desk. No restaurant. No bar. No snacks. No ironing board or iron. No human assistance of any kind. You do get a coffee pot, fully furnished kitchen, and a record player with old school vinyl.
